agree to cagalli here. It wont sell well for the 360 IMO. Most ppl who own a 360 are shooters fanatics which that is a fact. DMC series doesn't sell all that great compare to the hype it has though.

But the ps3 will outsell the 360 version by a good margins since i think the japan will get into the mix. This bundle helps as well. Its a pretty good deal.

Also hdmi cables can be 5-10 dollars if u find the right sites. They are cheap.

I think this game is going to sell tons more on 360 than PS3.

I would fuckin' imagine everyone getting sick and tired of all the FPS games coming out.

And I highly doubt Conan did much to satisfy another genre gameplay.

DMC4 is the first high-budget (great game, none of that Ninety Nine Nights bullshit) to come from JPN to the 360. There is nothing like it on the 360.

And be damned to Sony, if DMC4 (a once successful Sony franchise) not only does well on the 360, but actually sells more on the 360? I wonder what that message would tell to Japanese developers.

And DMC4 includes RUMBLE, this was the perfect fuckin' game bundle to include a dual shock. And no HDMI cables? Have fun playing next-games at 480i on your HDTV.

@Cagalli: DMC4 will be a hit on the 360. It's not like DMC is going to go unnoticed by the 360 community... it has HUGE name recognition and the vids on XBL are absolutely jaw dropping. Not to mention the fact that 360 games sell a lot better (again at least in NA). My best guess is that between all territories, DMC4 sales will be about even on the 2 consoles.

Who knows. I almost doubt it just because most 360 owners seem to be interested in Turok, which comes out the same day. I work retail and everytime I suggest this game to a 360 owner, they don't even care :( PS owners though, are eating it up. A few of my hardcore Xbox friends have even purchased a PS3 for this game because they like the controller better.

There was a Halo bundle for both 1 and 2, 1 came with a limited edition clear green system, and 2 came with a blue one (instead of the black/green).

COD4 is pretty good if you are into fps. Which a lot of people aren't. Its not like Japan has ever been a contender in that arena, and well, the Wii, and the PS2 should illustrate how comparatively few people give a flying fuck about first person shooters.

I just hope bundle MGS4 comes out in the states with the 80 :D

2. yes and no. PS3 games are region free, but to hold true to past obligations PS3 must be region locked for DVD, PS1, and PS2 tittles. So yes it is region locked.
I'd say either wait for the ceramic white to come to the states(if ever? i dunno.) or learn to like the black one. Or for similar but not quite equal features you could go with the 360 and experience the same hardware quality I have come to know and love.(sarcasm)

You can still use optical for audio even if you use HDMI for video; I do that myself. And the only regional coding the PS3 has is for BD movies and PS/PS2 games, that's all. If you're in the US, you're safe for BD as well since the US and JPN fall within the same region.

@Fyren: Does the PS3 HDMI cable allow you to still use optical sound separately? This has been one of my big pet peeves with A/V stuff in general, at times when I use stuff like HDMI that also carries sound it can't/won't let me turn that off and use Optical Audio (that my needs-to-be-upgraded Amp actually supports) along with HDMI video.

Does the PS3 have region coding, or can the JP console play US discs? Because the white version of this does look really nice, I'd much prefer DMC4 to the other bundles I've seen.

@atomos: Exactly, how many people that are planning to buy a PS3 don't own a PS2 as well? I got the 40gb via a PS2 trade-in deal because the cost to feature ratio on the other models isn't worth it. If I wanted to play any of the AAA PS2 titles I missed over the years, I'd ask one of the 20+ people I know with PS2s.

I wish we had more bundles in Australia, I'm looking into buying a PSP and the only one I see around is the simpsons bundle. Glad they decide to give us the ugliest models.

The PS3 is sold at a loss. Its estimated that the 80GB version of the PS3 costs about $700 manufacture.
When you buy one for $500 it actually costs Sony about $200. They lose money. Theres no profit margin to play with.
That said; Cables don't grow on trees. If they include one with the console either a. the console will cost $20 more and you pay for it or b. they lose another $20.

Sony reportedly had sold 5.6 million consoles as of 9/30/07 sited from [en.wikipedia.org]
Run the math 20*5,600,000 and that turns into an additional 112 million dollars out of Sony's pocket in an 11 month period just to include a cable that not everybody would use. Not everyone has HDTV yet, some people want a longer cable, some silly people want to pay extra for "monster" cables, ect.

Although I always enjoy receiving things without paying for them; I can respect Sony's decision to let you get your own HDMI cable.

Not that I remember. But then again, Xbox really doesn't sell in Japan. Blue Dragon bundle moved a lot of units for them, but sadly, they didn't do the same for Lost Odyssey and that game seems to have flopped.

I hadn't witnessed anyone shunning the 40 gig. Amazon.com has the 80 gig just two spots above the 40. Overstock.com sold out of the 40 gig (last week when they had the 50 dollar off sale) before the 80. A lot of people go for the 40 because it's cheaper or they don't care about PS2 games.

I'm sure I don't need to point out how poorly this bodes for Sony? They're bundling their system with a multi-platform title. I mean, yikes. Sure, Japan is bundle nuts, but still, doesn't one typically bundle an exclusive title with your system?

Then again, the 360 may as well not exist in Japan, so who knows.

@Fyren: it's the fact that you (the customer) are getting a consol that still needs accessories, would you still be saying the same thing if the controller were missing? after all you paying $400 for a consol, what's another $40-$50 to get the most out of it, much like the PSP that dosnt come with a memory stick (playing kinda sucks if you cant save your progress without dropping more cash to save your progress). This has been an issue since it's release.......im just saying.

This is gonna sell pretty well I assume, depending on if japan likes the 40GB. I know over here in the states, they avoid the 40GB like it's the plague. The 80GB, sellin great. but the 40, not so much. Maybe thats why they are bundling it with the 40GB, to help sell them all.

Regardless, Japan does like bundles, and I think this is gonna help sell lots of PS3's and DMC4, of course

This should be 360 pack in with DMC4 in Japan, and DMC4 with PS3 in the US. But whatever, I'll probably pick this up on 360 if there isn't some sort of tie in. Otherwise I'll pick up a PS3 when MGS4 comes out.

Unfortunately however, the 7 million units sold of the DMC franchise is mostly thanks to North America and Europe.

But then again, out of the "big three" (DMC, God of War, Ninja Gaiden) , Devil May Cry is the one that does the best in Japan.
