Lots of fan support for this one (exceptions either being the haters or the clueless).

The live action movie makers can learn from this.

Step 1: Stick to game plot.

Step 2: Get rid of Alice. No clones, no nothing. Just get rid of her.

Step 3: Make actors actually look like their game counterparts.

Oh, and making sure that zombies are the main monsters and not crows would be a nice touch.

let's face it, Resident Evil is based on 3 things:
Evil undead creatures, femmes fatales, and cunning heroes. How the hell do you screw that up?

If they stick to something that HAS to do with the original story characters, it has to be good. If they want to show only spectacularly-spectacular scene like FF7 AC, so be it, it'll be good in a different way, but what I want, friends, is something that sticks to the lore of RE :D

@blackadvent: I agree. I enjoyed teh FFVII movie. A group of buds of mine got together the moment the movie got on the internet and we watche dit in Divx beauty.

I have high hopes for this and hope to not have them crushed. I know that all the FF games don't have a direct connection but are part of a glorious plan by Square but RE seems to have a more linear approach in story. Here is to undstanding it all.

Okay kids, the movie takes place in 2005. Raccoon was nuked in 1998. 7 Years later, which is after RE4, that took place 1 year before, so Leon wouldn't look that different from how he appeared in 4.

Let's hope with the CG film there's going to be more weird things than just Zombies. Eastman was half right... the zombies are just for the tourists. It's all the other crazy critters that make a true RE story.

Be it movies, TV series, games, cartoons, animations, you name it, characters tend to keep the same clothes because they are designed to represent the character (values, social status, etc.) and it's easier for the viewers to recognise the characters. Cheap, yeah, but very common.

@Ed-the-Third: Blizzard is certainly behind SE in terms of 3D quality. I mean they are the top tiers, but in Blizzard clips it's easy to tell it's 3D and equally easy to point to techniques used to create the clips, while SE masks their work so perfectly there is no way telling how it was made. And as failure as the Spirits Within was as a movie, there are few cuts of the actors that are pretty much impossible to tell apart from real actors.

As for the trailer, looks much better than the movies. I just hope the story is good.

@Nexus6: At first I was inclined to agree with you about it being an MP7, but on closer inspection, there appear to be some irregularities. Yes, it does have a rail and (half-folded) foregrip, and the muzzle looks about right, as well. However, the ejector port looks a lot like an MP5's, there is a magazine in front of the trigger guard, and the grip is too far back for an MP7. Either the creators of the movie came up with some sort of hybrid, or it is a gun I am not familiar with.

Assuming you were talking about HD formats exclusively...obviously the film will be getting released on standard DVD format as well.

Wtf does "7 years from Raccoon City" mean? I'm guessing they mean "7 years after the Raccoon City incident." Localization effort plz.

I heard this whole deal isn't going to count in the official storyline though, which is a bit disappointing, and a bit reassuring at the same time.

Also: I haven't read any previous comments, it very well may be confirmed to not be a part of the main storyline and I just haven't seen the confirmation yet.

I'm gonna have to ask it- was the FFVII movie really that bad? As compared to, say, the Super Mario Brothers movie, the second Mortal Kombat movie, or anything remotely involving the name 'Uwe Boll'.

That said, I have hopes for this movie. If the game companies themselves make movies based on their own games, then there's less likely a chance of a fuckup the size of Crecente's latest drunk post.

No, that's not right. That would mean this is before Resident Evil 4. He would have mentioned in that game that he had an incident after Raccoon City, but only mentioned the Raccoon city outbreak. They should either not make this, or not use Leon. Unless this takes place AFTER Resident Evil 4, but that doesn't make sense either...

@jisf0rjosh: Its produced by Sony, which means that although Capcom owns the rights to RE the games, Sony owns the rights to RE the movies. Anything having to do with the movies is handled by Sony and not Capcom (though Capcom still gets paid for their licensing).

After that sad excuse of a movie "Resident Evil 3", this is surely the best way to go. The game characters that we like and remember instead of real life imitations.

Ironic, is it not? I prefer the "fake" people to the real ones in this particular case. More videogame to movies conversions should go for this.

Advent Children was just so crappy that I'm scared of video game movies now.
At least other crappy movies had plots.
