@Ollivander: I dunno... Never played any of the ratchet games before, been playing this for a bit, seems kinda meh to me. Maybe its the lack of dual analogs on the psp, but i find it very unwieldy and just not very fun.

this is why I hate the PSP, everytime we get a good game it gets ported over to the PS2 with a better upgraded and cheaper price tag, boy do I hate that.

Yes it is coming to PS2, I noticed that at work (Gamestop) today. It has a release date in late Feb ~21 right around the the release of Twisted Medal Head On for the PS2 (2 PSP to PS2 ports) for an MRSP of $40 (should be $20).

Playing games on the PSP has so many problems already, with screen size, controls, etc. Dispite that I still like mine, but add in the fact that most of the good games make the more to the PS2 and I'm not left with much reason to buy games for it.

@Nightshift_Nurse: I don't think that porting back and forth between PSP and PS2 is good, but Sony would lose a big market if they stopped supporting the PS2. Then again, there are so many games out for PS2 that there would be no way that anyone that can't afford a PS3 would have all of the games for the PS2. They could just rely on it's huge library to keep it afloat, but every PS2 sale is a potential leap frog into a PS3 later down the road. The PS2 is bringing a new crowd of people into gaming just like the Wii is. If we see a $30 price drop on the PS2 soon, they'll probably start flying off the shelves again, even though they are still moving pretty well for a last gen system.

For the PSP, I think they need to advertise that there is a remodel more. The average consumer has no clue that there is a new model. Also, they need to get more brochures out showing all the things that the PSP can do so people realize why it costs more than the DS. They also need to put out some games that appeal to girls and older players. It really is a system that for the most part only appeals to the young adult male crowd and could do much better if there were more games that girls could enjoy. Additionally, they need to bring the vibrant colors to the US. Having the majority of customers only having a choice between silver and black (not counting darth vader because that is too niche) doesn't give the consumer much choice, especially when silver only comes as a bundle.

Well, the difference in power between the PSP and PS2 is, well, marginal. PSP it, "barely," more powerful, but most PSP games don't USE all that power, simply to prolong battery life.

So, it should be darn cheap to port a PSP game to PS2, might even be able to add a few graphical tweaks here and there. With it being so cheap, its almost a crime not to, at least from the position of the those in charge of the development companies.

@ceilingFANBOY: Be that as it may, there are presumably better ways to do it than slowly siphoning off every major selling point for the PSP. This is would be a great time to start localizing all those games that never made it during the PS2's heyday. That worked just fine for artificially extending the PS1's lifespan.

It is really the cheapest gaming system you can get (not counting GameCube since it has no support) and from my retail experience, I see that the consumers who have not bought a Wii generally are angry by the fact that Nintendo has abandoned the GameCube.
