I'm ashamed because I really really thought that a Danish company would be different, and not succomb to the mighty (greedy) dollar.

From what I see here (and on other websites) is that IO Interactive took the money and ran with it, made a game that could have been great and let EIDOS decide that it needed to come out just in time for Christmas - just in time for the Christmas shopping.
Unfortunately, today a bad, not finished game won't sell well.

I don't mind that Kane&Lynch is obscene, it is rated M, isn't it? A more serious problem is of course when players get stuck between objects twice or even more times. This is really really something that irritates and annoys people when playing a videogame today. The story and characters can be really really good, but tech problems can make even the most patient player put a game away.

I don't understand why developers still insist that they need to release a game just in time for the Christmas shopping. I mean, books, movies and even dvds are released throughout all year. The success of Bioshock, released in August of 2007 should really tell publishers that it doesn't matter when you release a game - at leat for the Mature audience.

I don't know how the law is in the US, but in Denmark pulling a fast one like EIDOS did on their website would probably (and most likely) get consumers to complain to the consumer's ombudsman since EIDOS most likely would be subject to criticism for 'misguiding and misleading marketing'.

On a more general note a 6/10 score on Gamepsot isn't a bad score. It just shows that the game is average and mediocre, - made for the average casual player, as one of the developers told in an interview with Danish Radio.

This developer also stressed that the game's audience was 18-35 year old males. And because of this the gameplay were made so the player didn't have to read so much. And they, IO Interactive, did put a lot swearing into the game - because, you know, since this is what a Mature game is all about, the constantly swearing.

This is just catering to what I call a pubescent adolescent humour, something I don't expect in a Mature rated game. I don't mind hearing a four letter word now and then for heightened effect, but please not all the time. It gets really really tiresome after a while.

As for the graphics issue, the graphics are just fine, the gameplay (of what I've seen from trailers and previews) seem fine. Similarly, the story in Kane&Lynch seem OK& fine. It's just not that great a game; it is an OK & fine game that deserved the 'fair' rating it got on Gamespot. I might have given it a 7. or even a 7.5, since this score is what I would give to a fair game in today's market. However, when a reviewer such as Gerstmann decides to use all the ratings scale, a 6.0 or maybe a 6.5 seem like a pretty OK review - just like the game.

But I must say everyday I'm a little bit less inclined to do so.

And I've seen some gameplay trailers. While I cannot judge only from that, it seemed a lot like repetitive boring shooting with great artwork but not that much impressive during gameplay.

As for review scores... I think I don't really need to say this, but NEVER TRUST THEM.

Be it for a game or a movie... they are all mostly BS.

My top 5 worst movies of all times all had good reviews on them... nowadays, almost all movies have them.

Games are just following the example.

Except that both the movie industry and the music industry have been around for much longer, and have had individuals relying on the same practice for a longer period of time as well. So in a way, instead of showing how young it still is, it's proof of how quickly the video game industry grew up. Sad.

Eidos obviously wanted this new IP to succeed, but instead they've thrown it to the wolves with extra meat and steak sauce by attempting to use shady tactics against consumers that are clearly far more informed than they could've thought. Bad ai, bad cover system, bad visuals(looked like a cleaned up ps2 game), bad shootin. Story and everything had SO much potential.

Nobody asked you to jump to conclusions and think its a review score. Same with the quotes. Gamespy did write that sentence fragment at some point in time, so it can be quoted. Shouldn't GameSpy or Game Informer have some interest in not being misrepresented? That's the question I'd really like to know, because it will determine whether or not Eidos gets away with this. If they do, then Eidos will most likely be forced to make a retraction with a lot of egg on their face or risk some heavy civil damages.
