Sometimes a title gets left off the list, even though it is now BC. Case in point, XIII is BC, and the multiplayer works very well. Oddworld Munch's Oddysee works, too, but not sure on Strangers Wrath yet (I'll try that one later today). I found that periodically trying your games may work sometimes.

Now, if we can get my Midway Arcade Treasures discs to run too; though seeing as a ton of those titles are showing up for download on XBLA, I'm guessing it's not a high priority.

As to why The Guy Game and Barbie Horse Adventures made it before [title X], well, I'm guessing back-compat fixes for other games worked for these obscure and undemanding titles, whereas [title X]'s unique implementation of [feature Y] on the OldBox still hasn't been retroengineered for the 360. It'd be nice if they kept plodding on this.

Hey, there's an idea for Microsoft if they're reading; make back-compatibility engineering an optional interning thing, the way Aegis Wing turned out. No revenue, sure, but free labour that's already around.

The only real conflict is between the "joy" of possessing hard media vs the vague and nebulous concept of purchasing a limited-use license on a proprietary blah blah blah... Also, the noisiest part of the 360 is the disc drive, so taking that out of the equation could help the experience.

Yes, because every company should label their product with their greatest fault. Microsoft should label the with a big orange sticker that mentions it's thirty percent failure rate. The Wii should label that it doesn't have the horsepower of the other two systems out there.

Fisher Price should also make sure to put on all their products that kids will likely find the box more entertaining than the toy inside.

I can understand why MS went the software route. They only leased the technology and couldn't get Nvidia and Intel to lower prices, and that is why they always lost money on the original xbox and canned it. If they couldn't reduce the cost of the stand alone system, they definitely weren't going to be able to economically include back-compat with hardware in the 360.

Beyond Good and Evil is the ONLY game that I still have the big old black box for. For as much of a gem as the game is (on a level equal to Psychonauts if not more so), this still puzzles me. I know there are challenges to it, but the game wasn't THAT much of a hardcore engine type game. Heck, it came out on 4 systems (including the PC).

I really wish they would get that straightened out soon so I can officially move on ...

@dpena81: One SKU doesn't have BC, majority of PS3's still have it including the still on the market 80gb model, and they do continue to fix bc in various titles with each firmware, they just dont advertise it.

Do you think somebody is going to stop playing Mass Effect, Bioshock, Call of Duty 4 or Halo 3 to play NBA Ballers? Microsoft should be commended for their efforts, but its really not neccessary anymore. The few people that want to play those games will simply keep their old Xbox hooked up...thats what I do.

Also I'd like to commment on how awesome Armed and Dangerous is. I'm glad it was highlighted with the photo. It one of the best straight up shooters on the Xbox and its downright hilarious too. Anybody that loves frentic shooters with CRAZY weapons needs to do themselves a favor and track down that hidden gem. It won't distract you from games like Halo 3, but its worth adding to a collection to someday try it out.
