So I just picked up my Zapper and copy of the game. A few notes about the gun:

1) I think Kotaku was a little too harsh earlier about how the gun fits in your hands. I actually like the feel of the trigger placement.

2) If you're using Nyko rechargeables, just know that the Wii remote will NOT fit snugly into the remote chamber. Although the rechargeable backing is just slightly bulgy, it's too bulgy for it fit in like a normal Wii remote battery cover. I don't think it necessarily would change aiming though, since the remote is all about relative position, anyway.

3) The game software has a calibration system, though I wish they had allowed for more "broad" scale positioning.

4) It's nice that there is a cord-wrap on the inside of the Nunchuk handle, but it may be annoying to have to deal with it every time you want to use the Zapper. I now have a controller pair that is strictly dedicated to the the gun.

About the game:

1) Don't kid yourself. If you own a Wii, you should fork out the $20-25 for this. Why would you deny yourself something that's easy to pick up, fun to play, just because of little nitpickings you've heard about? At the very least, it's inexpensive enough that isn't that much of a risk, and you if you really like it, you have everything to gain from it. If you played and liked Duck Hunt way back when, and you don't have a Wii, yet, plan on purchasing this Zapper and game when you get your Wii console. It'll bring back all of those fun times, sans ducks and dogs.

It's the same kind of fun.

videogames are not analagous to music albums though. there aren't 2 or 3 really good levels in a game. in order to fully appreciate the artistry the videogame must be consumed as a whole, akin to a movie or book. this is just inane chatter from those who wish to further undermine the artistic concept of the videogame.

Perhaps there is genitalia in their bellies. Maybe we as a society need to realize that the ding-dong of another species is a pee-pee all the same. Gah for the last time, the Wiimote is NOT a light gun. It works completely different than a light gun. It relies on an IR sensor bar to give an approximate position of where you're pointing.

I may wind up getting this... at least a few hours of fun for $20 isn't bad. It's a shame they gave it the Wii Sports treatment with the game sleeve though.

@StocDred: Probably... but why get a $20 game for free when you can get a $50 game for free? Even if there's no third $50 game you want, you can get one, sell it, buy the Zapper, and have some extra money left over.

I got a chance to try this game out at E for All a few weekends back. The coolest thing though that I remember about the whole display was not that I was playing Link's Crossbow Training. It was that I was playing Link's Crossbow training, with three other people to my right on three other stations playing three other zapper games. I believe those other games were Ghost Squad, Medal of Honor Heroes 2 and Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles. It looks like there will be games coming out that will make getting the zapper worth your while.
