@HykCraft: No one has pointed out what an awesome geek you are for knowing how many characters Marvel has. Seriously though, there's 4801. I was thinking though, isn't the server load in Warcraft split between different servers with a maximum amount of players like 5000? So everyone could play as one of the marvel characters all at once, you'd have to have a tournament, though to see who gets Wolvie. After a while people would get stuck with tard characters like the Leader, and New Warriors, or how about Power Pack? I would be the Beyonder and visit every hooker in the world in 24 hours, twice!

And not only that, but it's all been done with a certain fear of losing the games - nothing like the prospect of not being able to have something to make you want it even more.

Wonder how that DC MMO will pan out for Sony then. Although I guess this was less a brilliant interesting idea and more of a "they're getting one so now we're getting one too!" type of deal since I'm pretty sure the Marvel MMO wasn't announced until after the DC one which isn't doing much better by the way (still have nothing on the game). It's all the same anyway, anyone notice how unsettlingly similar Spiderman's and Superman's personal lives are without looking at their powers?

The game won't be canceled. They sold CoH off to NCSoft to fund this project, which will obviously generate much more cash than CoH. Personally I'm looking forward to it, as it'll be CoH (which I liked), only with massive improvements.

tl;dr they wouldn't cancel a project guaranteed to rake in the cash.

Like I said in the other news story, I think this one had the most expense attached to it, so I just figured that it'd probably be the easier of the games to get scrapped or have something come up that might cause it's demise. Kinda sucks, someone probably would enjoy the game, but it happens. Hopefully the money is used just to make a better Marvel game instead.

i liked where they were going with this.

it was in the post-civil war marvel universe, so there was continuity with the comics.

but maybe it was too hard to constantly update the games universe to match with the storyline(which the developers said they were gonna do) since marvel's killing everyone off and bring them back.

or maybe they just didn't want a group of like a thousand people trying to take down spider-man at the same time.

Honestly, I was very excited for the Marvel MMO, but if you think about it... how many people are going to be running around as Wolverine, the Punisher, and Spider-Man? The game wouldn't work. The only way the game would work is if you created the game ala COH/COV by creating your own hero.

There's only 4800 Marvel characters in the universe.. so I think more than 4800 people are going to be playing this game (if it were to ever come out).
