Well I guess it's kind of useful. But Scene It doesn't seem to lend itself to something where you'd need so many different controllers. I mean you just basically pass around the DVD remote as it is.

BTW, I have never in my life lost at Scene It. My record is something like 12-0. Even if the other players are nearly at the end and I'm halfway back, I'll go on a crazy run and win. I've even given other players handicaps but I'll still win in the end. Sometimes I wish my luck had come in for something other than Scene It domination.

Heres the story... MS approached Scene It to help develop a casual game to help them compete with the Wii. MS developed the controllers all on their little lonesomes only occasionally showing it to Scene It. But since Scene It isn't a video game developer, they had to work through a third party (WXP) to get the game made. sooooo, Concept by Scene It, Build by WXP, big ass controllers=MS. and there you have it.

People saying Scene it! is ripping off BUZZ need to be more specific. The controllers are buzz like, that's it. Scene it! the game has been around since 2002. It just never made it to consoles. Buzz came out in late 2005.

So we all knew it was coming, but the “Big Button” controllers that come with the Scene-It video game have finally arrived. The big buttons are colored the same as the standard four buttons from the Xbox 360 controllers and then those same 4 buttons are vertically aligned below the big button.

Ach, sorry to double post, but apparently Buzz came first years ago in the UK, complete with the buzz controller...

Though I do believe that the Big Button controller for 360, while similar in function and design, does actually have a few features that the original Buzz Button lacks. Not necessarily the Xbox nexus button or the start and back buttons, but the fact that the big button is also a d-pad (or so I had heard).

I had thought that the Scene It XBOX 360 big button controllers had been announced since last year, and that the game Buzz! had only beaten Scene It to the market. This really seems to have become a strange "chicken or egg" deal?

When was Buzz! announced originally compared to the Scene It Big Button controller? I'm pretty sure this is a case of Buzz ripping off Scene It, but just managing to beat the competition to market.

So, I know lots of people who want this game. So, I guess that just means you haters aren't in the target demographic... and I like the controller- it beats a remote controller which is what you have to use to play Scene It! without the 360.

So hate for hating sake, it's ok. You have plenty of time what with the fact Nintendo and Sony only put out a good game a season.

While the commercial may indeed suck many donkey balls, I do agree with those who say this will will be a good party game and I'll likely get it too. We have the board version and that's usually a popular choice. I do fear, however, that the controllers will end up mistaken for Fisher Price toys and end up in my son's toybox.

I was thinking of picking this up as something the I could play with family over the holidays. I checked out the demo at Wal-Mart in the holiday section while waiting for a chance to get a crack at the drums on the Rock Band demo.

The announcer on the game was horrible spewing terrible puns that would make a 5 year old embarrassed. I could barely play for a few minutes because of how annoying it was. It destroyed what little interest I had in purchasing it.

I might buy it when i find out how much the DLC costs.. If a "new" game (different version, i.e. disney's scene it, etc) costs anywhere near $30, then it would be totally useless to me.. I would just buy the regular Scene It? games instead.. I just dont think the big-button controllers are really worth it.. Also, i dont think i will get into the fact that you only have four choices to answer with. That makes the game too aweful easy, because I am usually sitting there stuck trying to remember what something is. If i have mult. choice, I will probably be able to get it much more easily, which isnt as fun for me.

I know it was originally a DVD game. I've played multiple versions of it over the years. But the fact remains that there is very little options on what they can do with a controller for this type of game.

They have 4 options for answers (which corresponds with the original controller for those that don't want to use the packed in ones). They have a buzz-in button, which is pretty standard for many game shows.

What exactly are they supposed to do? Anything they do would have been seen as a "rip off" of Buzz. If people are going to criticize Scene it, then I think they should also criticize 90% of the controllers manufactured in the history of video games, since there is very little room for originality left.

Plus, I could turn around and criticize Buzz for ripping off assorted game shows (computer, tv, or board). It's not like that game was a fountain of originality.

so i overheard there's gonna be some DLC for this. sounds pretty promising actually since a lot of these types of games fail at replay value (classic board style)... i.e. taboo, i swear my friends and i have almost all the cards memorized. a taboo game with DLC would be great too, but i guess that's something more useful for the DS since it's a tad more discreet than a television.

this seems like a fun game tho, wished i had an x360 tho =(

the singstar games are pretty good, but i preferred the style karaoke revolution had. every other night there's always people over the dorm playing x version of singstar, karaoke revolution or guitar hero, lol.

so despite how silly the idea of releasing these types of games are, i think it makes for some interesting parties and gatherings. the only gripe i have about this scene it game tho is that it seems like its limited to only 4 players max.

You've either not 21 yet, or not been to a popular sports bar yet. I'm sure someone here has been to a buffalo wild wings or some variation of bar which has essentially what this is, on multiple TVs throughout the bar with trivia.

I guess the fact that you don't "get it" means Microsoft is doing something right.. as you're obviously not a casual gamer and therefore its to be expected.

I think this is great. Though, I agree the controllers are sort of fisher-price as far as looks are concerned. I may grab it at some point.. would be lots of fun during holiday family gatherings or when hanging out with my girlfriend throwing back a few beers.

I wouldn't say it's a rip-off of Buzz. Scene It? was released in board game form in 2002 and Buzz! came out in 2005. The 360 game plays almost just like the board game but it's a better experience overall since everyone can answer on their own without passing the DVD remote around.

In my opinion all of those DVD based games feel somewhat broken. We got a few that are just a DVD without a board like Scene It? for Christmas a year or so ago and they haven't even been opened.

...speaking of, has anyone actually played through the game on the "300" HD-DVD? I started it for a second just to see what it was but didn't try playing. It's like a turned based/advanced wars/risk type of game I think.

@DjFIL: Yep, they're infrared and you have to have the receiver sitting on or near your TV. Not a dealbreaker I guess but it would have been a lot nicer if they'd been RF wireless, especially when people start getting a little excited (and/or drunk) and forget that they need to aim the controller in the general direction of the TV.

Demo on XBL was pretty fun to play with my girlfriend. I'll be picking this up Wednesday if for nothing more than a fun non-serious-competitive game.
