I'm not sure how someone has three systems (or more) and manages to play them all every day. At least two of them are going unused for some amount of time. Why this should seem noteworthy or postworthy is puzzling, as always.

Since I don't usually pre-order games, and haven't been in a TRU in over a decade, what's their track record like when it comes to pre-orders? I always hear these horror stories from people who thought they had a copy reserved at places like GameStop, only to find out the store had over sold their supply.

Anywho, I can't wait for this. Played the demo today and everything just came natural to me like I've played it before. Watching other people play, as they're awed by it, is pretty amazing, too.

By this logic, I could declare that my 360 is collecting dust. You know, because I've just randomly decided to ignore Halo 3. And I can get Bioshock, Orange Box, Assasin's Creed, and Skate for other systems.

2) On what planet has Ace Combat ever been a "AAA" title? I guess on "once something is a 360 exclusive all of a sudden it's a better game than it really is" planet. Also known as Halo planet.

3) I don't think anybody is saying that the 360 doesn't have the most games. It's just that having less games than some other system doesn't make you inadequate: once you pass a certain threshold you have "enough" games to no longer be "collecting dust". The Wii has recently passed this threshold.

4) Please don't bring up metacritic numbers: everybody knows they are meaningless bullshit.

And I only think the VC is overpriced for the bad games. I recently spent $8 on Super Mario World and Super Metroid and $10 on Paper Mario. All have been well worth the money since they're phenomenal and I hadn't played them before.

On topic though, that's a good deal. But they could've used an SMG image instead of a New SMB image. And the right box art for that matter. Hopefully Nintendo has some major advertising lined up for this game... it's gonna be huge.

Haha, that's a weird yet clever strategy. I actually noticed that as well; I wasn't as much into gaming last gen as I was the N64/PSX era, so I skipped a lot of games. Since then I've recently been looking into buying some (2-5 year old) games that I've missed, and it's funny how cheap they are (usually ~$12). When you look on ebay to buy games for say the Genesis, even more so, they're like $2. Even N64 games are usually around $5. That's why the Virtual Console is kind of annoying.. overpriced.

Also, it has recently come to my attention that most people focus way too much on having to have the newest consoles as soon as possible, then once you do, you play them only; there's no reason to retire your old consoles. Just because they're older doesn't mean they're not worth playing anymore.

Ah, same here. I remember Gamestop or EB Games used to have some policy where you could return games you've opened if you were not satisfied, but expectedly that didn't last long.

Last gen, I was playing SNES and Saturn games; this gen I'm enjoying Dreamcast, PS2 (sorta still this gen thanks to PS3 suckage, I know), and Gamecube games (on my dust-free Wii). I know it's blashphemy to hardcore, bleeding edge Kotakuites, but it works! Games are cheap as hell, the games hold their value, and you only play the best games without wasting time on overhyped crap.

The only downside is that you don't get to schmooze with other gamers over the virtual water cooler, but I've never understood social gaming (or... society) much anyway. If you're a wealthy social butterfly who loves professional sports and wasting time, my system won't make sense, but if you're a misanthropic, thrifty, single player game type of person, come to the dark side with me my friend. Once you taste the rich fruits of ancient civilizations, you'll never come back....

That being said, I do buy one or two new games a year, and this deal makes Galaxy one of them since I can flip it for a profit (Bioshock and Mass Effect... meh, maybe in 2013, when they're $5 each and 360's are a happy meal toy). Oh well, enough Scrooge-ish old-timey rambling. Thanks for the heads up about the deal.

On the other hand I'm in the middle of playing 4-5 360 games right now (Halo3, OrangeBox, GH3, NHL08/FIFA08) and have CoD4 and AC pre-rodered and soon will have Mass Effect as well. I guess the Wii will remain a dusty figment of my imagination.

I know most won't probaly get some of the games coming out for the wii, but there are games. That you want to play them is completly different from there not being games O_o All this talks just bring to my mind that awful song (alter for this discussion) 'My console is better than yours, damn right is better than yours' *shudders* Please, just enjoy your system and be able to have an open minded about other systems and there games.

Metacritic shows 29 recently released Xbox 360 games getting a score over 75, compared to 12 for the Wii, and that's not counting certain non-retro Live Arcade games like E4, Puzzle Quest, Mutant Storm Empire, etc.

Then you have to consider that becuse of the increased emphasis of online multiplayer placed on most 360 games, games for that system tend to last longer. Also, a number of the bigger multiplatform games tend to sell better for the 360, for any number of reasons. For Madden, it was the high-def graphics. For Guitar Hero, it was for downloadable content and the fact that so many people already had the Xplorer guitar from Guitar Hero II.

Now, all of this isn't meant to say the Wii doesn't have great games or they won't have even more great games in the future. But unless you've got blinders on, it's pretty obvious that in general the 360 has had the games recently. Maybe not for you personally, but for a lot of people.

Sure, there are a few good games like MP3, Z&W, etc, but they're not universally anticipated, especially when compared to Mario's next platformer, which to those that didn't feel Sunshine much, this is like Mario's first new platformer since SM64 ten years ago. SMG will be the game that dusts off Wiis, including mine

Taking a quick looking at the next 3 months, my Wii is going to be very busy, and my 360 is going to be very bored.
