No problems here. The analog stick on the guitar is used for navigating the Wii menu when you boot up the system. Online play is great. No delay or slowdowns. The problem is finding other people on there. But I did test yesterday afternoon so might be different today.

cringer8 is correct. The wii mote speaker is really cool and navigating with the analog on the guitar works everywhere. Also, for those crying about not being able to find a match online, I've noticed that with every passing HOUR, there are more gamers online. Lets give this game, you know, a COUPLE DAYS to build an online community. Jessus H Criminy, the impatience of some people is completely astounding. Its as if they WANT to hate anything on the Wii. I've had a few online battles thus far on the Wii version and works great. I was surprised at how fun using battle power could be. Also, the online is free which is quite nice.

To clear a few things up:

-You CAN navigate the Wii main menu with the analog stick on the controller.

-With the Wii remote volume set at 2-3 notches, the missed notes sound is way better coming form the guitar, especially in multiplayer.

-I have found the Wii remote recognizes Star Power activation more accurately than the PS2 guitars.

-The Devil Went Down to Georgia boss battle is ridiculously hard :)

I've played the Wii version myself; to some of you who don't believe this, there IS a analog stick on the guitar that you can use in the Wii menu to boot up the game. It doesn't look as nice as the 360 version, but you're not buying this game for the graphics. Different consoles have different bounus characters; for instance, the Wii & PS2 have Elroy Budvis (an elvis imperonator) instead of the Grim Ripper. I think Elroy is a better character anyway. The main downside would have to bee the Wii's lack of good online play. It's there, but good luck finding a match.

Here's a story for all you Kotakuites:

My wife got backstage passes to hang out with Pat Benetar and her husband Spider, her guitarist, last fall at a Greensboro, NC concert. While there, my wife asked Spider what he thought of Guitar Hero/Guitar Hero II, and he just looked at her bewildered. Apparently, he hadn't even heard of it. So now her song is a feature in Guitar Hero III, and I take full credit for it--for my wife that is. Too bad its not her recording, just an "as made famous by."

@PresDNA: My thoughts on the Wii guitar:
It feels very sturdy, no problems with how the neck comes together at all. All parts snap in quite nicely.

Maybe a little heavier than the 360 Xplorer

The strum-bar seems more responsive than my Xplorer, with no squeaking. :)

The Weemote fits into the slot nice and snug, no movement at all.

Very good overall.

I was rather depressed that they didn't do a More Cowbell reference. I'm still happy that they kept the semi-personal loading screen blurbs, and saddened that they didn't do individual ones for all the bonus songs.

Have you checked out the ingame store yet? Tons of tasty and totally not obvious product placements like the AXE deoderant guitar... -_-;

One by Metallica... there's no way you'd be able to pull off the big riffs in that song with the GH2 game engine.

@toadkick: This is an out and out lie. The analog stick was included so you can navagate the Wii menus without the IR. (IGN says that it doesn't work like a classic controler, but Crecente just showed that it does)

Got it for the PS2 yesterday. I think I got carpel tunnel. Luckily I didn't get the Guitar Bundle and nabbed the game for 50 dollars Canadian at a local Wal-Mart... but wtf. The 80's version was 60 when I bought it.

I like the game... but in my opinion GH2 had better note charts. This game is in serious need of another Less Talk Moar Rokk. I sort of grew accustomed to all those Boston bands with GH1 and GH2. Maybe I'll shell out for Rock Band when it comes out.

I also hate what they did to my cool and froody Xavier Stone. He sorta got a little flamboyent when he used to seem so mellow and suave. At least the difficulty is up there. Got to beat Raining Blood by Slayer still on Expert, then I'm off to face Lou and Dragonforce.

"The only other downside (more of a Wii hardware issue than anything else) is that you'll need to have a Wii-mote free to IR your way to the game boot screen, which means you'll get used to pulling the controller out from its shell any time you want to start the system up."

Guess there's not an easier way to start the game with the guitar controller :P

Brian, you can now calibrate the wammy bar in the options menu. Not sure if you discovered that or not, didn't watch the whole show, but XBox his this option, no reason to assume Wii version doesn't. Make sense actually after the X-ploder guitars had their wammys messed up on some of them. Calibration is logical.

I would like to get a copy of GH3 for the Wii but my problem is I already have two guitars for PS2 (one of which a friend & I modded to do star power by a foot pedal) and living in a small one bedroom unit with my wife means I will probably take a pass on another peripheral and just go the PS2 version.

I played it for a couple hours yesterday, overall I enjoyed it. I liked the boss battles, they are fun.

What I didn't like were the graphics. I know that it's a music game, etc. but those textures and models look like PS1 era. Butt ugly. Disappointing when people are raving about jubbly physics on the other versions.

On top of that I did have a slight problem with the signal getting to the Wii. I had to unplug the Wii remote in the guitar and plug it back in to get the signal working at one point.
