In other words, for every one person who manages to escape by not doing what the robber says, there are probably 10 people killed trying to do the same thing. The reverse would be true for submitting to the robber's demands. I live in NYC, where the murder rate is relatively low, but the sheer size of the population means there are still about 500 per year. (Still way out of line for most civilized countries.) So for all the "Wendy's Massacre" victims (and really that's about the only case like that I can think of), I know of dozens of people shot or stabbed to death while struggling with an armed robber.

I had a Gamestop a block from my house on Detroits SW side, it was great. Very busy too- the *only* place, besides the flea market, to buy games around here.

F****** gangsters broke in to the place 3 times in two months, and they pulled the plug on the store. Now, me and all the kids and people who like games in the area have nowhere to go. Funny, there are some 360s at the flea market now, mixed in with all the old ps1 crap.

I have a picture of the sign put in the gamestop window when they abruptly closed months ago- it went: THIS STORE WILL NEVER OPEN AGAIN. DON'T ASK ANY QUESTIONS.

I appreciate that it may seem harsh to some people in light of what happened to the victims of that robbery (and I'm not blaming them in any way, shape or form), but you can't seriously suggest that someone who threatens you with violence in order to get what he wants can be trusted to look out for your safety. Wasn't there a case a long time ago where staff at a Wendy's restaurant were led towards the freezers, thinking the robbers just wanted to lock them in and leave, only to discover the robbers really wanted to shoot them to death (and did)?

If things like that happen as a result of submitting meekly to criminals, then we can't rightly call submission the absolute best course of action, can we?

Ne who, I wonder what kind of consoles got stolen.. Gamestop usually catalogs the serial numbers of all the consoles they have in inventory. If the robber is dumb enough to go online with any of these consoles I would think it would be easy to detect that and you could have a big clue right there.

However, to those people who are saying that video games aren't worth someone else's life or that video game fanaticism is going too far, the guy probably is going to try selling it, no less out of the back of the Civic or something to try to make some cash, most likely to fuel a drug habit. People who want to steal goods for personal use usually shoplift, try to sneak stuff when nobody's looking, or work at the place and sneak the goods out.

I don't care what anyone says about Cobb County, it's sketchy at best. I went into my old store at the mall for 20 minutes and had my car broken into less than 75 yards from the food court entrance, the busiest entrance at most malls. I also worked the Dreamcast launch there and someone got mugged taking their system to their car.

And the finally, and perhaps best indication that Cobb county sucks is... there is a traffic accident every 2.3 seconds in the county (I couldn't find the article archived on the net, but it was published in the Atlanta Journal and Constitution between 01/01/2006 - 04/01/2007). The area just has problems and the lack of any want to involve themselves with the rest of the metro areas transit system just lets the area fester.
