so all the people who say it IS possible, what is the method? I'm planning on making a pumpkin of my own, so let's get some info on how to get different shades of the wonderful fruit.

This pumpkin is the best one yet...however it wasn't done by a Kotakuite, so I'm a little disappointed in my peers here.

I love that MySpace name!

Not that there is anyone asking me, but I love to see this type of post. I don't read every post anymore and it is nice to have some posts that are purely a visual, whether it be a game cake or a pumpkin. I don't celebrate Halloween, I don't play Halo 3, and I don't carve pumpkins, but I still think that this is cool.

How do you even make a post about Halo that isn't game-related? That's like making a post about mashed potatoes that isn't food-related. It's just impossible.

I know it's difficult for people who don't enjoy Halo, but deal with it. It's the biggest game around, and a lot of people on here like to see this stuff. I don't care about pumpkins, but 1,853 people in less than two hours have seen fit to view it.

On another note, I think it's funny how every week we see complaints about too many Halo posts, too many Wii posts and too many PS3 posts. What else is there? That's a majority of all gaming right now.

On yet another note, I want mashed potatoes.

the Irish go to the bars and have a good sing and a good drink on Halloween like tradition says they should, i guess you could call that private, carving pumpkins handing out sweets that kinda stuff aint caught on and of course theres not many people practicing that as there where... jobs require you to work on these "holidays"

h8ers be h8in. i'm rather looking forward to the gaming-related Christmas trees (and Hanukah bushes!) in a few weeks. Halloween's one of my favorite holidays anway.

just out of curiosity, hater type persons, wtf is wrong with showcasing people whose love for games reaches into creative endeavor? how is that not related? if you're hating on the cakes & the papercrafts & the pumpkins i think Kotaku may not be the place for you. because the people who write this (and thus, the only ones who really have a say) seem to like peppering their coverage of *games* with a little *fun*.

@Buttah: it is actually possible, but it just wont last more then a day or two. IIRC, you can make the pumpkins stronger by putting them in a tub of cold water for a while(heres a good tips site [wls.wwco.com])

@Buttah: What "thin" parts are you even talking about? The only intricate part is around his visor and upper chest, and it's really not that thin. The rest is not carved through, but rather scooped out so that light shines through the remaining pulp.
Given the right tools and a solid, healthy pumpkin there's nothing even remotely approaching "impossible" about this.

Actually, I and a couple buddies of mine made a Halo 2 pumpkin during a pumpking carving in church. We didn't have the sexy Master Chief on there (just the logo), but it turned out pretty well. We won the carving contest.

Why are you guys even keeping up with Kotaku? The very reason why I've kept Kotaku in my bookmarks over the last three years is to see anything and everything that could possibly be game-related.
