The balls are very small, and weigh like 3 or 4 pounds. However, its like 10 times more difficult than regular bowling. Nobody in its history has EVER bowled a perfect game. Pretty nuts. I'd LOVE to see a Wii version of that!

Since then many have closed down and very few new ones have been built (there are more profitable uses of that large a space). As a result more old folks are into bowling, but can't deal with the physical strain involved in hurling a 15lb ball around.

I think that's why Wii bowling has been such a huge hit with old people compared to other "old people" games that many can still play in real life (like Tennis or Golf).

Although not based in the USA, I'd imagine if i was, and had no idea about retirement villages for my folks (which i in fact don't), then i'd now forever remember the name.

What's more, i'd associate them with video gaming (i know it ain't no Metroid Prime 3 up there on screen... now THAT would be awesome... but even so), and as a gamer myself, i'd at least factor this in to the decision as to whether or not to suggest sending my folks there if the need ever arose.

I now know the name of a retirement complex, and i knew exactly zero before these videos, so although not directly relevant to me, I can appreciate them as a well done advert if nothing else.

Both my parents play on the Wii, my Mum more so (which is a revelation in itself, being that she's never played a videogame my entire 28 years of life). My Dad is a computer engineer and is far more into the technical wow factor of a device for this price that reaches so many people... To one day say to them "well they play WiiSports at this place each week" or something would surely be better than me saying "meh, it's a place with a room for you to sit in and perhaps find some kinda basic activity for you to enjoy."

When you see the general quality of the entire presentation, and how much fun everyone seems to be having, it makes it surely stick in your mind forever more.
