I loved loved loved the original UT Beta. The final UT game was good, but the beta was better.

UT2 and 2003/2004 (sucks to be you if you bought 2003!) were good improvements with some really novel level design. Great fun, really refined and deserving of much praise.

But the UT3 demo? It looks like Epic had some shit left over from developing Gears of War that they've just hamfistedly mixed in with some Steven Spielberg's take on War of the Worlds tripods. The environments are so over-the-top detailed and the characters so overly bland that it's hard to tell what's what. The weapons feel weak, it feels like you're walking only three feet off the ground (crouching is more like lying on your belly) and the vehicles are completely meh.

Based on the demo, there's no way I'm going to get UT3. It had so much promise, but I think the engine and art direction is getting in the way of the overall experience... which is sad to see.

I quite literally cannot find one new element of gameplay. In fact, most of the new graphical effects actually take away from the fun, at least to me. I was excited for this, but not anymore. I loved all of the Unreal games, but this ones a no-go. Especially given what its up against.
