Still playing mine since I got it on launch day.

Like i say in previous post, it all depend on your lifestyle, if u just play game only after work/school. Ok you want more game that suit u and lengthy one too.

For me that perfect, there is less game so I can track them and buy the one i like when they drop price later on(the same tactic to built my gc, ps2 and ds collection). I get the big title or rare one 1st.

The most consistent game been played is WiiSport, once per day, between 10-20min on average. I miss a couple of days not playing my Wii because I dont have the time to play after work because I went to play badminton, or see a movie or hang out with friends.

Been playing RE4 recently(since i just bought it 2 weeks ago), clocking at 7 hours and going on Pro mode(completed normal in 14hours and Ada mode not completed at 2 hours). Still great after 2 years no playing the gc one.

There are 10 vc games I got and more on the way.

Nah the Wii is going strong for me here and people at my work have good word for it.

I so want a 360 too...but the limit resources of time to play prevent me from buying it. Heck owning all 3 would be a waste of time for me...Not counting the psp too. or buying a new pc for SC2.

Nah instead I will practice for badminton competition and start martial art training

What's interesting about these figures is that the PS3 is more expensive than the Xbox 360 and has significantly less games than the Xbox 360, yet for 6 weeks, it out sold the Xbox 360 world wide ( note the price drop is NOT world wide ).

My guess is that the W/E 26th the Xbox should be on a par or better than the Ps3, but after that ( around the end of September ) the PS3 will out sell it again through to Christmas once everyone's Xbox 360 has RROD due to playing games like BioShock and Halo 3 and the release of games like Heavenly Sword, Lair, WarHawk and any other PS3 games I have forgotten to mention.

Essentially America is what is keeping the Xbox 360 ahead of the competition world wide, because it would appear that everywhere else on the planet people are buying the more expensive machine.

That's the end of my games console analysis for the day.

@ez054098: I think Wii will be doing OK this time next year; it takes time for people to pick one up (especially kids nagging parents etc; price will have dropped) and the game situation then should be much better with both casual and 'serious' games. Whether it's still trouncing the other two consoles (put together) is definitely an open question. But overall I think if the Wii maintains its significant sales advantage over both rivals just through this Christmas season, its future is secure.

However, August did see the release of Mario Strikers Charged, and that may have moved some systems. The online play for Strikers is unbelievably addictive. While the formula (Soccer + Mario = $$) is the same as Mario Kart (Racing + MArio = $$) or SSB (Fighting + Mario = $$), that formula is sooo satisfying, and the online play is the icing on the cake. Actually, the online play IS the cake. The single player is the icing.

I was just thinking of something no one on this thread has really mentioned.

Everyone was wondering if the price cuts would hurt Wii sales, now that the 360 core is so close to the Wii, etc. Well, I would say these Wii sales numbers show that the price of the competition has little to do with Wii sales. I mean the same month both competitors drop their prices and the Wii sells more than it has since christmas. Clearly people buy the wii are not really effected by the other console pricing.

What is with this attach rate nonsense? Everyone seems to think the wii attach rate wil be bad. So far its the same as the 360 was at a similar point in its lifecycle, which is to say, very good.

And if you want to talk about collecting dust, you may want to go to your local retailer and look at the PS3s on the shelf, thats where most of the dust is collecting, not on peoples Wiis. The Wii is really ramping up, tons of free online games coming in the next couple months and 08 is looking huge, thats why the Wii is selling, not just hype.

1)Attract gamers that left gaming. Nintendo introduced the VC and made sure people knew about this feature. This one service that no matter what console you played in the NES, SNES/Genesis/TG16 eras it will have games you have played plus ones you never played because you were such a fanboy back then. (I was in this catgory only Nintendo and I missed out on a lot of good Sega Games.)

2)Attract the allusive casual gamer. I say allusive because up to this point console gameing and casual gaming didn't mix. Why casual gamers usually only buy one or two quick games a year and they are usually cheep. In the console market you have a console you need to buy and then software which usually is priced higher then games they usually buy. Nintendo got them hooked somehow. And the games that are targeting this group are selling well. To continue this dominance they are coming out with Wiiware, which they are support with only education and puzzle games priced lower then they game they usually buy on the computer.

What I hope for Wiiware and the Xbox Arcade is they will remove the wall that prevented hobby developers (the ones that made the $10-to-$20 games online) and expand the talent in the console market which would be a shot in the arm for gaming.

Console buyers have always been the cheap graphic whores. thats not an attack either it the truth. Consoles have a ceiling for the price. Saturn tried it and neo geo tried it. Those systems are so forgotten. Hell every one wanted a neo geo growing up yet no one got one not even me! I only got one like 5 years ago when I decided to try my hand at building a arcade set up at home.

The one thing nintendo got right was they realize people did not need them. So they responded to that... now it's SONy's and MS's turn yet MS is the scarier version...LOL The more and more I look at it the more I see MS integrating the xbox stuff into the next windows. It's coming believe me it's coming!

Really though people like good graphics but few people are willing to pay for them. I don't expect the HD market to really balloon too soon. HDTVs are still not affordable to pre teens...LOL or 10 year olds. You can say gaming has grown up all you want but it is still ruled by the younger crowd.

Nintendo locked those guys up a long time ago. Now they have the real adult crowd. Suddenly the HD crowd is going to look like the PC market... well actualy it already does.

All bad analogies aside though, I wasn't surprised with most of the results. The Wii was going to pass the DS eventually, and the only question now is how long they can keep this up. Even though the PS3 did have a price cut, it was in the middle of the month when it happe i think, so i wouldn't count it out yet. The only real surprise for me is the PSP. To be able to sell more than half of the DS is a real success in my book (2:1? It beated the spread!) and said more than what the PS3 or the 360 can. If Sony can focus a little bit more on the PSP (the slim version is okay, but another analog stick would be awesome.), they can at least beat out the PS2 (and that's big if).

The next few months are gonna be murder for poor gamers everywhere.

By the way, is there a website out there that shows you the release dates for games? Thanks.

But why? VGchartz numbers were pretty good, most within the 10-12 percent range that they set as a target and GBA and PS2 were nearly exactly the same as NPD.

Only the DS was a big miss, and considering they base sales estimates on shipment goals of the companies, I can see why it happened. It looks like the DS didn't ship what was expected, so the sell-throughs they get from retailers would have skewed the numbers. Take a look at their methodology. If you have a decent grasp of math, it makes really good sense.

I was lucky and snagged one in Feb, but found myself never playing it once that initial 'this is cool' feeling wore off. I tried to like it, but I ended up selling it two months later.

And it's not Nintendo hate. The only two systems I own are a 360 and DS lite, and I probably use them equally (though not now that Bioshock is out.)

Why the hell do people like you keep making stupid arguments like that? It's not about how low the console's price point is. It's about much of a value the console is for it's respective price point. And for $250, the Wii is one hell of a value.

Price is an important part in evaluating a console's worth. Because the fact of the matter is that ANYTHING is worth buying if it sells at a low price. But that doesn't mean that the item is worth it at its normal price.

Man I was so hype about the cell stuff hey I wanted to believe but seriously I'm no chip engineer but I've read too much about Cisc vs risc sorry about the spelling but you get my drift. Also too me polking around with the PS2 made me start to question sony's marketing/hype tech machine... Although Ken's patient or sony's patient for the cell was a dream come true. Some real matrix type stuff. Yet it is way hard to be made than though of apparently as intel has real test and chips using ideas that actual go beyond the cell. Even they are finding problems with the idea.

I don't expect them to win but they will hopfully think twice about trying to use some thing else that does not leverage gaming.

The xbox is good yet they are missing some thing... other wise I would have one. For some reason I don't look forward to playing any thing on it cuz deep down I know it can be done better on the PC. Hey I guess thats just me.

Unlikey to be that many if any at all. They stopped making the old model GBA awhile ago so most units have probably been sold by now. I certaintly haven't seen an old model gba in any store except used ones in quite a while.

It's Mario Strikers ads. Nintendo knows that the casual/nongamer crowd is into offline mutliplayer hence the huge sales of Mario Party Eight. I think sales in September will also be at 400,000 level. There is no sign the wii sales are slowing down in any region just fluctating based on supply shipments. 90,000 wiis a week in Europe alone beats Sony and Microsoft weekly sales combined.
