I think cable tv has something astounding like 10% penetration rate in this country (Australia). ie. That's how many of the population can actually get it. Support for cablecard is a non-issue for most of the world.

But in counter to your options argument, I could also point out that you don't get a reliable car by buying American. You need to buy European or Japanese for that. :P

As Kyle81 stated, they are called options for a reason. I'm not going to get into a which console is better than the other war, but to answer your question, yes, in order to get the "Full" experience, as in enjoy every single thing it has to offer, then yeah, you gotta pay.

Cars work off the same principle, do you go to car forums and piss all over the options that car dealers offer? I just don't understand the point in your comment. Was it to rile people up? Was it to say the 360 is better? I can't think of any point you may have been trying to make with such a statement.

I can't afford a Mercedes so unfortunately I don't get seat warmers, GPS, leather everything with wood accents and LCD TV's embedded into the back of every headrest in the vehicle.

If you can't afford everything for the PS3 like some people will be able to, then no, you don't get to enjoy the full experience, just like I can't afford enjoy the full experience that driving a car has to offer if I were driving a fully loaded, super expensive car with all the extra options.
