What is it wth all the blackwater bashing? They're doing a job to help the military in Iraq. So they're run by a multi millionaire, Christian Conservative. *gasp* he was successful in using his college years wisely, and actually had a plan after he got out of hte military! Most people in the military are *gasp* Stern Christian Conservatives. Just because MGS4 has something bad about a PMC mean they are all evilzorz omg111! runz1!11ahhh!!...?

No, they are people like you and me, but who decided to even further extend their service by yet ANOTHER 10 years in the infantry, most being ex-rangers, marines, or sf (delta is the EXACT SAME THING AS SF...in iraq, delta analyzes and is counter terrorism. Alpha is out there and is anti-terrorism to prevent delta needing to work.). *gasp* they are trying to make a democracy. *gasp* maybe we should let the enemy shoot at us, so that you ****ing Europeans realize that it doesn't matter if your enemy is a mindless wave of arabs or a highly specialized british force, if you have a job there, and the job is valid, I would assume that they are trying everything in power to stop it.

Don't go telling me I don't know jack****. I'm not in the military. However, throughout the years I've had everything that sf need to know drilled into my head by my dad (well, the smarts side i think), and the rest told to me my cousins in the marines and rangers, respectively, when I was little. I read up on the rest. I know my **** better than the rest of us civvies.

@Witzbold: Yep. Mercs have been around for ages.

But the premise of the book (and i haven't gotten far into it yet) is that Blackwater has a huge fighting force (something around 20,000 troops, with a dozen gunships, etc.) and that it's headed by a stern Christian conservative multimillionaire. As well as highlighting how PMC's are seemingly exempt from many US laws as being a middle ground between military and civilian.

It might sound a little leftist, and it probably is. Honestly, I picked it up from Costco while I was getting HP7.

I don't really get how war games are supposed to make people want to sign up. What I've learned from Call of Duty is that, if I even put my head up above the sandbags for a moment, a sniper is liable to pop me in the head. Video games probably make the likelyhood of death appear even higher than it actually is on the battlefield (depending on which side you're on), since video games don't allow you to have all your senses in normal working order.

At the shops today I saw a big army recruitment drive. Camo-painted trucks and banners saying "Recruiting now!" and whatnot. There was nobody over there talking to them, and the army guys were just chilling in director's chairs having a chat amongst themselves.
