I know it's stereotyping, but there always end up being more stories like this to back the stereotypes up. I would love to not be able to jump to a stupid conclusion like, "it's a black kid that did that" and then read the whole story and find out I'm right. It makes every kind and good minority person look bad. There are so many kids I'm friends with that are minorities and they are great kids who would never do something like this, but for every kid like them, there end up being 10 other "thug" or "gang-banger" stereotypes who thinks that's what they should be acting like and that it's cool to be a criminal.

My point iin posting about how you automatically pointed out raciest to his statement was just that in a black community (depending on demographics) things are different then in most white communities. White communities have drugs, rape, and rage killings. These are usually tied to white trash stories of girlfriend sleeping with my brother type of situations followed by lots of alcohol.

But, the black communities are full of "thugs" who imitate what the media says they should be. You watch BET ever and you will know what I am talking about. The only movies I see there are about gangs and murder, or it is Soul Plane.

So, really all I am saying is that his race does play a factor in this case because that will change what his community and demographic is.

Of course, this is never an excuse for killing, but it would be way more shocking if this would have happened in an upscale community where kids goto private school and have allowances higher then my checks from work.

While this has 'stupid people shouldn't breed' written all over it, it has little to do with lack of parental involvement, and more to do with lack of PARENTING, lack of recognition that the kid is maladjusted, and then lack of PSYCHIATRIC HELP.

If the kid would stab someone over a turn at the Xbox or whatever, chances are this isn't the first time he's exhibited CRAZY-ASS behavior. Looks like he finally got his hands on the CLUE KNIFE.

Of course, sadly, this will go down in the history books as yet another 'games make kids violent' tragedy bullshit.

Different races *are* different; culture, beliefs and norms cause different races to behave differently, that's not a racist thing to say.

Saying this kid stabbed his brother because he was black is irresponsible. Saying the black community have different problems than other races is just common sense, but over-the-top people who concentrate on the issue rather than the details stop most sensible discussion before it can start.

Admitting a problem is the first step to overcoming it. If we're not allowed to discuss it at all, then problems are never going away. The more people claim any talk of races being different is wrong and hope that we can 'all just get along' are only causing additoinal problems.

As for the premeditation, this kid had a long time to stop and realise what he was doing. The fact that stabbing once wasn't enough for him is also chilling. As sad as it is for this kid, he is obviously troubled, and I wouldn't want to him in my society, and I would support life imprisonment.

He even pointed out that Cosby has basically said the black community is fucked up. He might have used better words, but that was his point.

PHILDOPE wasnt trying to say they did this because their were black, instead was mentioning that their background and community seem to be more negative and this sort of thing seems to happen to them more then any other race.

I personally say it is because of how the media shows the stereotype of a black person and nothing else. Black singers (or rappers) are poisoning their own communities and their own race just for money to buy drugs. It is a problem, and bringing it up does not make you raciest.

I hope this little kid didnt have the intention to kill his brother. I mean if he just lashed out not fully understanding the concequences of his actions then there may still hope for him to get his life back together though scarred by this event it may be(not to say there is no hope otherwise). But if did it in cold blood full well knowing the results then they may not be far off judging him as an adult. Regardless this will scar the whole family from now on.

The reason they will convict kids as adults if they commit absolutely henious murder is that statistics have shown these kids, if tried as minors, have a very, very high probability of commiting murder when they are released at age 18.

Pre-meditated murder does not mean you have to have a really well thought out plan. Unless there was a knife within reach on the table and he just snatched it and stabbed, he would have required some thought to acquire the weapon first before committing murder.

I don't know all of the facts, but if he had to walk to the kitchen, for example, to get a knife then that is absolutely pre-meditated murder. Even if he had to walk across the room to acquire the weapon that he purposely plunged twice into his brother's chest, it is murder.

The kid has a deadly temper. Hopefully he gets life.

As for parents being there, wtf? Parents shouldn't have to constantly supervise a 13 and 16 year old. Hell, the 16 year old could have been in charge watching after the other kid.

This is just a case of a whacked out little kid with very little grasp on reality. He is a complete dumbass. He wasn't able to easily see how wrong what he was about to do really was. If it hadn't been his brother, this person would have eventually murdered a human being in his life. That is pretty obvious if not getting a game turn causes you to walk to the kitchen, get a knife, and murder someone.

A thirteen-year-old with a name like Jahmir murdering another teenager over a seemingly minor dispute is hardly national news. The disputes stem from a multitude of different things.

The story is more unique because it involved brothers, a knife, and a video game. Usually these things are not over a game, but rather over a girl, some gang bs, a fight, shit-talking, etc. I hope people don't spin this as a videogame negative, because involving a game is actually what makes it crazy and unique.

Hell, they could very likely have been playing a sports game.

Very sad that a kid would kill his brother over such a minor dispute. Hopefully he gets life, because that is one dangerous temper.

I'm in no way saying I agree with the kid's actions but I'm sure he and his brother didn't argue an hour before and he planned a way to kill him. Based on my experience with fighting my brothers, it's always right away that people are screaming or wrestling over something. I guess we'll have to wait for more information.

As far as the "Where are the parents!?" argument is concerned, I like many others on here feel there again needs to be more information before any conclusions are drawn. As previously stated in all likelyhood they were good parents. It was simply a house rule that they fought over and the 13 year old clearly took the wrong action. Parents can't stop their kids from doing stupid things 100% of the time and to think otherwise is sheer ignorance.

And what shocks me the most is how a 13 yr old can ONLY be considered an adult if he/she kills someone. I find that fucking incredible to be honest. They are going to put this kid in court over killing his brother, sentencing him as an adult. At what point did he become an adult? I dont know many sober adults that go on fits of rage with a knife over a turn on a gaming system. It is obvious enough to me that this kid was acting immature, and did a stupid act. So, I ask why do we try him as an adult? Because it was murder, and not assault? Because someone was killed, therefor he was thinking with an adult mindset?

This is just silly. I know it is still murder. But, murder for an adult puts them away for a long time. This kid most likely wont get out of prison til his 30s or 40s. I am sorry, I just dont think that a 13 yr old should be convicted as an adult, just wont ever make sense to me.
