I keep repeating this. It's not a loophole. It's a legit tax shelter. Boll is using it for legit purposes. It's being plugged because Hollywood keeps hiring german directors in name but never actually doing anything with them, and reaping the benefits of the shelter. Boll is using it legitimately.

The only reason he still makes films is because there are loopholes in the German tax laws that give people tax breaks for funding films, and there is no shortage of people wanting to reduce their tax bill, but sadly for Boll, these holes are being plugged, so he shouldn't be able to make too many more films. It would be a bit ironic if he started making good films just when he had to stop making them, but maybe he relizes this and wants to end his taxcapades on a high, so he can secure funding from a real studio for his next film.

The statement "one of the best movies of all time" doesn't mean anything at all. Technically it just means that it's not the worst movie of all time. Considering Uwe Boll made this movie it still may not even be true.

I wish people would just boycott Uwe Boll altogether. Some of my friends go out to see his movies because they find them ironically funny. The real irony is that's just what Uwe Boll wants because it keeps him in the spotlight. Not only do his movies suck, but they reflect badly on gamers -don't watch them.

I was at this past Cannes Film Festival and there's a lot more to the festival than people think. There are two kinds of movies on display there...

There's the competition films; the really big-name ones like A Mighty Heart or My Blueberry Nights. Those are viewed in the giant theaters where people dress in black tie.

Then there are market screenings; these are movies ranging from the aforementioned flicks to the absolute bottom-of-the-barrel college-made shit. These are people renting out sixty-seat theaters to show their shit to international buyers in hopes of making money.

Postal was such a movie and it was played twice out of the 11 days the festival went on. It played in a tiny theater across the street from the main festival that couldn't have sat more than 100 people. So while Michael Moore's Sicko was applauded for 17 minutes by 2,500 people, Postal was probably applauded for 17 seconds by 25 people.

To be honest, I'm eager to see this film and tried to get in, but I was turned away because I wasn't a buyer. I counted about 30 people that went in.

So yea, this post was just a long way to say that Uwe Boll is a lying piece of shit that shouldn't be given the time of day, but we all knew that already.

What gets to me is that the guy thinks he's making good movies. He's not some normal Straight to video Director who knows what they're making is garbage and just want to make a quick buck, but this actually thinks his movies are worthwhile.

But I will agree with you that the games he makes movies into aren't the best ones, but they weren't terrible. He's taking average video game franchises and making them into truly terrible films. And it's our right as fans of those games to bitch and moan about it. If someone took your favourite book and made it into a terrible film, you'd be pissed.
When they took Alan Moore's graphic novels and turned them into mediocre to straight out bad films, he was pissed, and he should be.

I'm not jumping up and down here cursing Uwe Boll to death, but I just wish he would stop making films.

And if Postal is at all funny, it'll be for the wrong reasons.

Gamers really need to change the record on the subject of Uwe Boll, it is so tiresome. Most of the geniuses here commenting on his work haven't even seen any of his movies.

I saw an experimental film on suicide and depression the other night made over the course of six years for $20k, with about $15k of that going just to reprinting it on 35mm tape so it could be shown in movie theaters. It was very good. He doesn't expect to ever actually sell enough copies to recoup the cost, it was a side project to his usual job.

The very concept that Mr. Uwe Boll can somehow convince Hollywood executives to give him millions of dollars (which according to his track record, they never see recouped) is a slap in the face to talented directors struggling to make films that if not much more meaningful, are certainly of a higher artisitic quality.

11/0, as a student of film, I assure you that Uwe Boll is a talentless hack, and that most major and minor filmmakers would look at his track record as an insult to cinema.

While normally, I'd agree with the idea of reserving judgment until you've seen said film... I'd have to say that pretty much anything based on something as unimaginatively bad as the Postal series cannot be good in any sense, apart from being good MST-ie fodder.

A few pointers: Uwe Boll has stated he's making film for money. At least you can't complain about him not being honest about it. Also, according to various reviews and comments from people Postal is by far his best movie - how that compares to other movies is a totally different thing, but perhaps it's better to actually see the movie before ranting too much it being crap.

We hate the ESRB/Nintendo/Sony/Microsft/Jack for the manhunt 2 AO issue because it's an adult game that they're preventing adults from playing. Even if manhunt 2 sucks and does nothing but glorify violence we're fighting for the right to play future AO games. They should be age restricted and not out right banned.

Uwe Boll's movies however aren't extremely violent or controversial. They're just ****ing terrible. We're also not trying to ban his movies (Though they should be banned). We're just bashing him for making them and saying bullshit like: "ZOMG THIS IS THE BEST MOVIE EVER!". I mean the man responds to his critics by beating them up. He is a huge jackass.

He's my second most hated person related to gaming just behind Jack T. I mean at least Uwe doesn't tie me down and force me to watch his movies. Jack is trying to kill the mature games market.

Seriously, it's possible (even if remotely) that this movie could actually be good, even if Boll is a huge liar. I have to seriously admire him, though. Think about it- most of you guys would've given up waaay before now. He has persistance. He is murdering his movies, but you don't have to actually watch them. It's your choice, and he's doing what he loves.
