If anyone is to blame you can blame the nice politicians we have (and i am including all parties here), those who do not have any vision of the future and just want to see what they can gain for the next elections.
One person cannot change a country, it is an effort where everyone needs to get involved. Including us, stopping the bribing, etc. We ALL need to think for the country, not just him.

@Irenicus: Imagine a game where your country gets invaded by a far more powerufull one for no apparent reason. The enemy then shows crass disrespect for your culture and religion and generally messes things up. Then your friends start disappearing and if they ever come back they tell stories about beeing tortured by the invaders.

You are of course a hero, picked by your god and start fighting against the evil empire. You plant bombs, assault enemy strongholds and intercept enemy comnvoys to kick the invaders out.

Of course, it wouldn't be a proper videogame, if you weren't allowed to follow your enemy into his homeland and start killing people there, resulting in an epic showdown with the enemy leader.

I guess, it's all realy a matter of perspective..
