Somehow, I don't think circling the entire character would help a lot... Using triangles however..!

Protector one

this is funny stuff. when i first went to japan as a teacher, i was surprised to see a test full fo red circles with a score of 100. i had a discussion with the teacher about how i felt the red circle was more effective fro drawing attention to problem areas than it was for showing correct answers. it would seem that, after 20 years of research (as mentioned in the japanese article), my point has been "proven". as a matter of fact, it was the 1 thing they were able to prove in 20 years of research if i read it correctly.

bam! vindicated!

thaKingRocka

Bah, the only way of learning kanji is to write it over and over and over and over and over......again.

Boring but effective.

There is no "secret" method". Sure though I would like a DS and some kanji program to learn some during the hours of JR travelling.

Tisteldun

@kioshi: Ashcraft meant that he now knows about this method for learning, not that he knows every kanji in the dictionary.

I didn't see how many kanji it knows. Did find lots of screenshots here, though, if you're interested. Personally, I use my own boring but basically functional kanji drill program to practice (not nearly enough), so I don't really need a DS one. However if you don't have a graphics tablet it would be lots nicer to write on the DS and even though this 'game' doesn't exactly look like a barrel of laughs, it is probably at least a bit more fun, so...

@Sabre_Justice: This is not aimed at a Western market, it's for Japan only (see tags). I'm sure they might sell a few to foreigners though.

quen

Would you happen to know how many kanji are there in the game?

And BTW how many do you know, if you do not mind me asking, since you wrote you do not need to learn anymore?

Thanks!
Heh, the equivalent of those Japanese DS games which teach English. (though I can see Japanese/Chinese people using this to learn the other language too)

"though now that I know, what do I need the DS game for?"

Good point.

Although, I'm still impressed that every letter in Japanese and Chinese text looks like a piece of art. Although, having worked at a Japanese restaurant and seeing their scribbled orders, I found that it can look just as messy as the basic European text that I'm typing.

What were we talking about again?
