I've been saying it since November, but I'll say it again: Those USB ports on the back are there for a reason. I'm guessing an add-on HDD and a memory expansion type contraption. Which, more likely than not, would make the Wii more expensive than the 360, if you wanted both of the new features. Just speculation, but the guy at the Nintendo hotline got real quiet when I brought it up on the phone last month. A little too quiet, even.

LOL it's a Wii mote hardware upgrade just in time for metroid. Where am I getting this... just a guess! If they some how replaced the type of signal for the sensor bar alot of people would be able to set it up a lot better. I bet if I went to every ones house that says the controls suck I would see like 3-8 blinking dots in the senitivity setting diagnostic. There are only supose to be two and you should walk close to your senor and as far back as possible to test reflections of those infer red rays.

Then too I bet they made the cord wireless too or either they made a retractor wheel on the cord so you don't get Wii whipped while playing...LOL

It has two usb ports so support of an external HD would be better as you can get a tera byte drive now over here in the states.

I'm also think this may be some new floor controller too as there is nothing that lets you play DDR on here.

They will probably market the wii mote as a pro controller or some thing since if they limited user set up error the experience would be better for alot of people.

Also too friend codes should work differently... They should work like PC serial numbers, meaning only the server uses them.

Wouldn't be crazy if they released a free standing GPU upgrade ah al the corded Pciexpress external graphics cards! I mean hell they could then use some thing like an r600! That would be sweet yet the cpu could handle it at all...LOL plus there are no ports like that on the Wii.

New hardware? Perhaps a "Hard Drive"? If Nintendo doesn't release a hard drive soon, they are screwed. My internal memory is almost full with VC games. How could I buy more if it's full because heaven forbid we would be able to use the SD Card. It better be a frickin hard drive.

I can't imagine the new hardware being something other than a hard drive. If they continue to pump out Virtual Console games, add some other downloadable channel (hopefully for new games), and possibly a micro transaction channel then they would absolutely have to make a hard drive addition. Right now the SD cards just don't cut it because you can't even put the VC games on it to back up. 512 MB? Please.

Well, I've been saying I expected Mario Kart next year. Is there anyone who didn't? :) So it's not surprising if they'll have something to show at E3.

As for new hardware my guess for 'most exciting possibility' is DS+ (basically the same system, flash memory and more internet features), but it doesn't seem very likely yet. Could they just be referring to peripherals (maybe a range), such as a microphone attachment for Wii karaoke games, that type of thing? Or it's just an entirely bogus rumour... who knows.

Well its inevitable that a Mario Kart'll come out eventually, and Nintendo like revealing games long before they're gonna come out (they say it won't be that long, but how often do we believe that with them?), so I wouldn't be suprised if we saw it soon.

Not sure what this "major hardware announcement" could be... as many have said, a peripheral is most likely. That sounds a bit fishy to me though, or at least a little exaggerated.

All of this talk of Kart and all I can think of is online snaking. If they do not correct that mistake in the Wii Kart game, I will end up only playing against friends.

Also, people talking about Virtual Boy 2 get me way too excited. If I could have a Virtual Boy that was wearable (so as to prevent my neckaches) and does not cause headaches, they would have a winner. Remember when Nintendo was talking to that 3D goggle company? I would love an add-on for the Wii. I would buy it even if it did give me VB style headaches and messed up eyes.

Mario Kart + online play is a no-brainer, christ i hope they let Gamespy take over by then. Theyve got the install base to make it great...who's played Mario Strikers online? is their lag, hows it play, how many people can be in one game?

Animal Crossing, Mario Paint, Kid Icarus, any one of these'd be great to here and are likely, id figure. The hardware...if i was to make a bet, yeah, id agree that it might be DS/Wii controller colors or something like that. But, it could very well be a new periphrial, like uh, a zapper or power pad? If there is "new hardware".. I dunno. Maybe a Wii DVD player version, but I doubt it; people want the Wii badly enough without a DVD player, and if the Wii gets stale, a DVD player wouldn't help at all. If its anything spectacular, I'd say a new Super Gameboy Advance with graphics at PS2 level. Definitely wouldn't see it until next year though.

Mario Kart on the Wii should be great fun.

It could be hard to top the DS game, though. Despite its portable format, that was a magnum opus of kart games. It even had faithful renditions of GameCube tracks.

One aspect I'd be interested to see is to expand the series to "Nintendo Kart." After a half-dozen Mario Kart games, I would like to see the franchise expand to include Zelda and Metroid-themed tracks - sort of like Smash Bros.

There's not gonna be wii 2 this fast, nor anything that improoves graphics, i belive. It isn't necesary for nintendo, since they are selling a lot. But maybe they are gonna announce the Wii with DVD player that they said it was gonna be sold this fall. If this rumour turns out to be true, I doubt it would be either the Wii 2 or a new Gameboy. Those wouldn't make sense financially.

Remember that patent they filed for a phone a while back? If this turns out to be true, and they announce some new hardware, I bet it will be some sort of gaming/phone mix. This way they could have the 3 pillars they were aiming for, and have access to a huge market that they are not yet in. Perhaps iPhone meets NGage? :P

Really, what else would they announce? Nothing major, obviously. Their current hardware is doing just fine.

But yeah, Mario Kart, F-Zero, Star Fox, Animal Crossing, Kirby, Pikmin and Yoshi still don't have anything announced for the Wii yet.

I can't wait for a Wii Mario Kart, especially after the disappointment that was Mario Kart: Double Dash. If there is new "hardware" I would assume it's more colors for the Wii and/or light gun peripherals, since I have a feeling the Wii will bring back the light gun age to home consoles.

I would say the release dates thing would be fairly obvious. But after what happened at Nintendo's Gamer's Day, I am skeptical about important things from Nintendo. It is probably time for them to announce the Wii Mario Kart. Probably won't get it until like April or May of '08 though...

First point: Mario Kart Double Dash 2!!- Don't miss this opportunity, Nintendo, show all those naysayers how novel the 2 player concept was. Especially with the Wii. Imagine having to aim and shoot shells with the Wiimote. Nintendo's got some good engineers: they could make it work this time. Also, imagine a game where the back player isn't really worthless. If they doubled or tripled item availability it would keep both players adequately interested. We already got the definitive single player experience with Mario Kart DS, why not try again?
:sigh: Nobody will ever read the above paragraph :(

Second point: Mario Kart, Double Dash or not, may be coming a little too soon for the Wii. Sure it's just an announcement... fine, a rumor, but they've already got the big 3 this year, maybe they can start showing us the original IPs they were talking about, hmm?

Third Point: With no news ever on Animal Crossing, you guys had better be working on a revolutionary entry in the franchise. Animal Crossing has seen only one real release, 2 if you count Wild World as a game other than the original. I want full 3D and camera controlling, please.

Well, at this point, any new hardware they unveil for the first time would probably be more than a year off. The DS and Wii are still selling faster than Nintendo can manufacture them, though, so I don't see why they'd want to unveil something that could potentially convince interested buyers to wait for newer hardware.

As for Mario Kart on the Wii: Hell, yes! :) Maybe they'll go the way of Smash Brothers and start adding in characters from all the Nintendo franchises now, though.

maybe it will be the wii with the DVD player that they plan on selling in Japan. Either that or as Helio writes, probably some new color DS. A DQ or Zelda special edition one or something.

Not sure about the hardware rumor, but remember that Nintendo always wanted DS to be a "third pillar," not a replacement for the gameboy. That said, I can't imagine them shooting themselves in the foot and essentially competing with their own juggernaut.

WiiII, the successor to the Wii to be seen in 3 years?

To be honest, it's more like a new color for the DS Lite that will cause everyone to think they need to buy a new one. That's always been Nintendo's strategy, and it's always worked somehow.

Maybe we'll see some multicolored Wiis by that same logic.

anyhoo...I'd love to see a new Kart game, especially with the Wii controls, since there are a lot of ways that it could be implemented. I can see either tilt-to-turn, like ExciteTruck, or turning using the analog stick and using the wiimote to do attacks left/right, burst, and shoot your special.

Not sure which sounds better, really, because I think without the nunchuk, there are less new moves you could add. 'course...it's Mario Kart, so who needs new? I just wanna hit people with blue shells.
