Everything you've ascribed to the PS3 in terms of next-gen can also be said of the 360. Both are on equal footing really. Graphics-wise at the least, which is what I think Joe Blow first considers, but alas I'm not Joe Blow.

Also I found the paragraph in paranthesis hella funny. Fanboy (I hate that term) comment: "At least on the 360 you can get bored with games!" or something to that effect. *sigh* Not my best moment.

I haven't seen/read anything that places the PS3 ahead of the competition in any regard. The PS3 certainly has it's(future) exclusive pro's in it's favor, but so do the other consoles.

Being told a release date is earlier than it really is is one thing. EVERYONE does that. Blizzard Entertainment is HORRIBLE at that, but they're still one of my favorite companies.

What Sony needs to do is cut down on the insultingly arrogant speeches. Don't tell us what you think we should be doing. Don't tell us we should thinking "I want a second job so I can buy a PS3" and then telling us that we're paying too little for it.

Don't tell us blatant lies (the whole rumble fiasco could've been avoided if they just said they were working on it but they weren't sure if they could get it done). Instead of saying that they instead said rumble was last generation? C'mon. When is it last generation to take stuff away? It's like the last gen had analog controllers. It's time to take that out because it was last generation? I don't think so. Since both the Wii and 360 have rumble, its' obvious that rumble ISN'T old technology that should be thrown away, but yet Sony tried to claim it was.

Don't hype up your machine to epic proportions. I mean "we skipped this generation!" C'mon... your graphics don't look a generation better than the 360 for sure. You need to hype your machine, but not by saying stuff that makes everyone go "what the hell?" The PS3 is a great machine IMO. It's just too damn expensive and there's not enough games to make it worth it at this time. That's all I would've originally thought of it if Sony didn't keep spouting all that crap.

The PS3 WAS going to be my secondary console (after the Wii), but instead I went 360 since it was much cheaper plus it had some great games. I was still considering the PS3, but the more of this crap that gets said the less likely I am to buy it. (And to feel schadenfreude when Sony messes up more and more).

Actually, what these retarded sony pr heads say makes a world of difference. How do you think sony convinced people that the ps3 would be so powerful in the first place? Besides the prerendered games, all they had was smack talk and exagerations.

If you walk up to most uninformed, technically challenged consumers, and asked them if the ps3 was more powerful or the xbox 360 was more powerful, guess what they would most likely say; "the ps3 is better". Because sony spouts shit, stupid people believe them again and again, those stupid people tell their friends and before you know it..... things are like they are today.

Even though almost every ps3/360 game runs better and looks better on the 360, even when the ps3 version comes out several months later with more dev time.

Sony has been saying stupid shit (PS3 exclusives will follow PS3 sales, the PS3 is way better than the 360).

MS seriously has a lot of catching up to do if they want to be remotely comparable to Sony's stupid shit factory, because right now, it's no contest.

I'm fully expecting most of you to think "ooh, 10 year life span! who cares? gimme actual games!". The point is Sony put a lot of long term planning into the PS3 based around the hardware's actual potential versus how ready their current in-house software engines were to take full advantage of the hardware.

Nintendo slowly and precisely releases good games to keep the Rock-Out Meter maxed, because they already know the full potential of their hardware and spend their time keeping their audience happy. You can usually expect some consistency from Nintendo, they sell the earth tones well.

Sony doesn't seem to have that advantage yet due to the difficulty of making full use of the hardware along with 3rd party publishers wanting to hold off until later in the PS3 life-cycle to release product so they can sell more copies. It's a catch 22, and I think Sony knows they have to pony up some 1st party badassery before people will really start to salivate. Home and LittleBigPlanet are nice, but they are eye-openers, not wallet-openers.

I'm sure PS3 will be much more in demand by mid next year or next xmas. Right now Sony has thrown out a lot of words that people don't believe, and it's because the consumers don't believe them that they catch a lot of flack for just about everything. I am mildly curious to see if they will manage to back up their words in the next couple years, but right now people are just hearing "wolf!" and getting rightly annoyed.

A healthy skepticism is good, and when people see things they don't believe their skepticism goes off the charts if there is any contradiction, and that is what Sony is sitting in. They seem fairly convinced that they will surpass the graphical abilities of the Xbox 360 though, and they don't seem to be backing down on those claims. I won't be surprised if they do, but I will be interested in the comparison of the PS3 and the Xbox $720 in the next-to-the-gen-after-next and see if Sony is still willing to ride out the rest of the PS3's 10 year lifespan before releasing another console.

Maybe they ARE full of crap and just went "oh damn, most gamers don't give a flip about blue-ray, we need to justify this price!" We will have to wait and see. Until then my DS Lite and the occasional Crysis screenshot keep things interesting.

360 is xbox 1.5 really, a good xbox 1.5 don't get me wrong. But in the end all it offers that is "new/next gen" is/was HD, and that aint enough especially as PS3 delivers that even better.

No in terms of "next gen" there only is PS3 and Wii. I played xbox since release and live since beta, the only thing that was new and exciting for 360 was HD, and that wasn't sooo cool after a few weeks, Gears of war looked great for a few days then I and everyone else were back to the "waiting line" -
