a good real RTS like Ages of Kings, not that turn based thing they released, a classic RPG like Wasteland, or something. And most definately the greatest adventure game of all time.... Leisure Suit Larry.

CoconutSport

Why do people want Myst on the DS? Everybody and their uncle has already played Myst at least once, and the game isn't exactly high on replayability. I don't think the challenge of trying to play it on the small screen is worth $40.

That being said I want to see King's Quest and Space Quest brought to the DS. The DS would be a great platform to launch a renaissance of adventure games.

Mr. Fluffykins

Snatcher would be a great addition to the Phoenix Wright style adventure game and it's an awesome old-school Kojima game to boot.

Maybe a Jet Set radio game would be good. Think about it- skating around with the d-pad, doing tricks and boosting with the touch screen, and when you need to graffiti something? You draw it.

Contact and FFIII are the only RPGs on that list that I'd call good, though I didn't play Lunar Knights. Most everything else there isn't considered "good" by anyone - Lost Magic, Izuna, Pokemon, and Magical Starsign have all been poorly received - none of them has an aggregate score higher than 70% on Gamerankings.

I thought M&L was terrible, but I realize I'm in the minority on that so I'll give you that one. So, I guess there are 3 or 4 good RPGs on the system - that still isn't very many.

Look, it's a great system, don't get me wrong, but the library is far from perfect - there's very few good fighting, 3d platforming, sports, RPG, FPS, and flying games. The system is very capable of having good games in those genres, there's just very few.

I love the innovative, non-traditional titles as much as anyone but sometimes I just want to run around and shoot shit, you know?

The Wreckard

@The Wreckard: Only two good RPG's? I've got way more than that easily. FFIII, Mario & Luigi, Contact, Izuna, Lost Magic, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon (yes, it's good). And then there's the ones that I don't have yet - Magical Starsign, Lunar Knights.

And then there's all of the turn based games (like Advance Wars, and AOE). Not quite RPG's, but excellent for that style of gameplay as well.

As for a rounded out library, I can't really find anything missing. Yes, there aren't RTS's or many FPS's, but both of those really don't work that well on a handheld, and yes, I'm counting Metriod there.

motoyugota

I think it needs more minigame collections and 2d sidescrollers!!

I kid, I kid.

Having gone through the library (I go through a lot of games on the train every day), I sold my DS and plan on taking a break from it until Zelda comes out. There's a huge selection of good games for it, but there's a complete dearth of RPG's and 3-D games for it. I mean, 2 1/2 years into the library and there's only 2 good RPGs, 1 good 3d platformer (a launch title no less), and only 1 good FPS.

Hopefully the library will round out a bit. Innovative, non-traditional titles are great to have, but sometimes I just want a good old fashioned game to play.

The Wreckard

"A few standouts on the list include Mario Paint..." MARIO PAINT!! Are you sure. A friend of mine had that for the snes and what a big old pile of tosh that was. I found spreading fish paste over my testicles and dangling them in a pool of hungry pirranah garnished more entertainment value.

KeyonSumner

The first two XCOM: UFO Defense games would be a perfect PC to NDS port, as the stylus would be perfect for the menus. The dual screens would also be a great addition as the touch screen would be used for menu selection and combat. I would also agree with Nexus-6 that the Fallout series (at least the first two) would also be a great port for the NDS, as the touch screen would make a great Pipboy interface. Having extra (downloadable, maybe?) quests for the Fallout NDS would also make the pot even sweeter.

Self_Destructo_2000

@cakeordeath Diablo for DS is such a brilliant idea. few years ago they already did something similar with the LOTR games for GBA it wasnt great but id like to see that.

and yeah, you can already play maniac mansion, monkey island and some more with a flashcard.

DirtyDebutant

A friend and I had a conversation about old Lucasarts games being converted to DS format a few days ago (when "Bone" DS was announced) and the two things we pegged were a "Monkey Island" DS collection and a "Maniac Mansion"/"Day of the Tentacle" double pack..that would be totally awesome. I would, however, figuratively kill and possible literally maim/wedgie for any sort of "Grim Fandango" re-release.

Parsifal

Grim fandango with point-n-click controls would be the mutts nutts. Most other lucasarts games are already possible (and awesome), quit being so damn lazy people and google that shit! :P

Thrillhaus

I've got Day of the Tentacle, Loom, Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis and a number of other LucasArts games on my PDA and they are indeed awesome with touch screen capabilities. It may be cliche to say "they were meant to be played this way" but it's completely true.

skullivan

"Cannon Fodder" of course. But not a port please, since I already played that game several times. I'd like to see a completely new one. The original mouse controls on the amiga would be perfect for the DS.

elend

My top wanted games:
-Diablo DS + Wi-Fi Connection with chat (click-click-click becomes tappa-tappa-tappa!)
-Some sort of good RTS (See, I'm thinking Advance Wars in a Warcraft-style game, and it needs Wi-Fi)
-An attempt at a DS MMO (Hell, I'd buy RuneScape if they made it. But if there's a monthly fee, the deal's off.)
-Myst, Riven, and Exile in one package for DS (ooooh yeah)
-The Sims DS (Dammit MAXIS, all I want is plain Sims put on a handheld. No story, no new attitude. THE PC ORIGINAL. A little content from the expansions would sweeten the deal.)

Narsil
