I'm with alot of the other posters here, I have a PSP and DS. I may not be as hardcore since I really only have found 3 or 4 DS games that keep me really interested (same with the PSP). I like both platforms, I just want to see more quality games come out for both them. I can't believe that wanting your purchase to be justified is a bad thing. Heck yes I want to be justified in paying $250 for a handheld...first day game sales like this will (hopefully) ensure Sony still sees it as a viable platform for which it is worth their time/money to encourage further game development.

Do I want more games, do I want Sony to keep the PSP alive? Of course.
Do I see the DS in any kind of danger? Of course not.
Do I want one brand to "win"? No, I like the competition and some of the benefits of it.

I just don't like alot of the serious fan-boy ranting on either side.

I agree that this is good to hear about the PSP.
I bought a PSP the day they came out, then quickly shelved it when I purchased a DS. The DS just had better games, and was more fun to use.

Recently, however, I've fallen in love with my PSP, especially since I have the hack to play all the latest games AND PS1 games. Though, it's not the PS1 games, but the recent titles - like MGS, Tekken, Winning Eleven, Killzone, etc. - that have made the PSP a much more reliable gaming experience.

Really, I like both systems now, and they both give different experiences. While I can understand it being expensive to enjoy both, finally there is a reason to own both with PSP's recent line-up.

I'm glad the PSP has some big release days to keep it around.

Yay PSP!!! I own both a DS and a PSP, I like them both, but I definitely enjoy my PSP much more... and it sucks that not a lot of games sell often enough, so this is definitely good news that PSP is far from dead and that the possibility for me purchasing a PSP2 larger.

You're right, one that out of the 2+ year lifespan that sold as well as several DS games means it isn't dead. It isn't like they buy the same shitty game titles because they are popular! I mean, Gundam and Anime games deserve to sell several hundred thousand units in their opening week!

The irony in this statement is classic. Wasn't this the same bullshit you fanboys used to say why the PlayStation 2 was better, because it "shipped" its 120million or whatever spin'd inflated numbers.

Ultimate Ghost & Goblins, MGS: PO, Ace Combat X, Killzone, Tekken: DR, just to name a few... yeah, those are sloppy seconds, aren´t they???. The DS is great, sure... but the PSP is also great.

On the subject of rooting for a brand, corporation whatever...I can comprehend it with Nintendo as they're one of the old-school, the people who made gaming what it is today...and they've had a rough time...but rooting for Sony or Microsoft...I dunno I don't see it.

I may just be a bitter old fanboy but these new boys have made the market a lot more cynical...it's taken Nintendo to shake things up again..

The PSP actually has a reasonably large install base (not nearly as much as DS but still..) I know several people who have PSPs just sitting in their top drawers doing nothing because there are no games out there that interest them.

So it doesn't surprise me that a proportionately higher number of PSP users have picked this game up. Think about it: on the DS, there are dozens of exciting games to pick up. A DS owner has to decide between Nintendogs, New Super Mario Bros, Brain Age, Animal Crossing etc. These are all AAA multi-million sellers.

PSP owners on the other hand have to sift through a collection of mostly second-rate PS2 sloppy seconds, or cheesy DS rip-offs. So when a good game finally comes out, every PSP owner and their brother flocks out to buy it.

Well thats becaues their not even out yet in the US and Europe and when they do come out see how DS kicks PSP's ass. But can you say the same thing about Monster Hunter?

I mean the PSP is decent but seriously theres no competition between the DS and PSP. And just wait for Dragon quest XI to come out and see what a real blockbuster is.

Hmm but you do have a point we should give kudos to the developer though.

I for one, know the Psp isn't dead. but it is getting it's ass handed to it by the Ds. Still, the mere fact that it's still hanging with Nintendo is a big thing. (remember the Game gear, Neo geo pocket,Wonderswan ect?)

They should drop the price though. (what's it been like? 2 years? and no price drop?) Sheesh...

It's good there's more than one major handheld for publishers. Otherwise one of 'em would be rest on their laurels.

For me PSP already has a great library of underappreciated titles and hence it is underappreciated as well. Good to see that something budged is what I meant.

As for the examples, for me DS has Trauma Center, Castlevanias, Mario Kart, Kirby's something and that's more or less all that I like.

On PSP, however, I've been playing my a$$ off with Lumines (both of 'em), Mercury (both of 'em), Daxter, Syphon Filter, Tekken, GTA's (two of them), Dungeon Siege, Wipeout Pure and Burnout Legends. Not to mention PS1 titles, including, but not limited to (if you know what I'm getting at), Sony Playstation Store ones.

So I'm very much for PSP getting some love finally, since I believe it deserves it, even if Sony did everything it could to hit its own baby on the head.

well thats whats killing the PSP, few decent titles, and the DS well at least 50 great titles and more comming, if the PSP dont start selling tons of units, by the end of this year will die, and the DS well with another price cut would kill the PSP as well...
