Actually, this sounds like a perfect game to take advantage of the twin cart ports. There was a Japanese-exclusive music-based game that had a second set of songs loaded onto a GBA cart. There's no reason why they couldn't release expansion packs of crossword puzzles on GBA cart with the bulk of the game code being reused on the original DS cart. For that matter, though, there's no reason why they probably wouldn't just release a second DS cart, since a GBA expansion won't sell well at all if the original game isn't still available by the time they publish it.

Purple Dave

About time, ive been waiting for a crossword game ever since sudoku games took off. And though it would be nice to have essentially unlimited puzzles with updatability, most sudoku games have a finite number of puzzles as well and no one seems to complain there.

Thrillhaus

Now I know what I'm getting my mom for her birthday! She's always using those books, but the DS is much easier to carry around. Good thinking, NY Times.

iwanttobeasleep

How is it Nintendos fault? They're not the ones making the game.

Although the ability to update (or play the latest) crosswords online would be cool how does it make this game a waste of time with out it? People buy crossword books with 1000 or less crosswords ALL THE TIME and last time I checked you couldn't fucking update those.

Looking at Amazon.com crossword puzzle books with anywhere from 255 to 500 puzzles go for about $10 to $15 bucks (give or take a few bucks).

If this game costs $25 to $30 it'll even be in the price range of one of those books.

I fail to see where the problem is.

I will say that Majesco should re-consider adding this ability though because it would make the game much cooler, but like somebody else said.. they aren't exactly sitting on a huge pile of cash right now.

it's probably going to be a NYT themed generic crossword. Meaning, an electronic form of those books you can get with 100 puzzles in them. I don't see why some of you think this is a bad idea. For starters, if it is just a bunch of generic cross-words, even if you did one a day, it would take you over 3 years to finish ALL of them. I can see my grandmother loving this. This would be stupid only if they priced it over 20 buckeroos. i'd buy it, it's better than carrying around a book of crosswords.

omgjuicyjuice

Why would you buy this?

1000 puzzles. That's 500 days worth of puzzles during your commute. Roughly 230 - 240 work days a year.

That's more than 2 years worth of puzzles for your commute. Uptodate or not, that's value, IMHO.

Pixelantes Anonymous

My sentiments exactly. If the game had the current, daily crossword, it would be a must-buy. As it is, I have to wonder why I would want this, when I already have more than enough sudoku to give me my puzzle-fix.

PaulMorel

Yeah, because Nintendo is publishing this...

Oh wait, there are DS online games all over the place. Maybe (just maybe) it could have something to do with the publisher? (It's not like Majesco is living on a mound of money, after all.) Or possibly it could be that the New York Times doesn't WANT to have the crosswords updated.

Think before you post.

miniboss1232
