EnigmaNemesis - Hate to burst your bubble, but retards on messageboards everywhere (even here!) still call Microsoft "M$" - no matter how stupid (or accurate) it may be. Nintendo's charging for games I can pirate? OMG, alert the internets!

KaneRobot - I will have to disagree with your subscription fee idea. I'm not one to buy a lot of retro games, so the concept of an unlimited supply of them sounds like I'm paying something for something I'll be tired of within the first month. If I have the opportunity to buy one game I want, keep it forever, and that's the end of the siphon to my wallet, that sounds like a much more agreeable financial plan. The LIVE plan doesn't work for every console, so I'm at least glad other companies are trying different approaches...

I agree with MJD, not only becuase NES games are overpriced, but because many are very long games.

I bought DK and DK jr, both times because i remember them being fun as a kid and i never got past like the second level. then when i played them i found out they only had 3-4 freaking levels that just got harder and harder. I want my $10 back :*(

Nintendo are "bad" as in stupid for missing the boat on an amazing marketing opportunity, assuming they don't give wii owners anything. The cost to nintendo would be at most minimal, but the return on investment would be out of the park- for a company that thrives on fans who love nintendo, they don't seem to be sharing the love here. prove me wrong, nintendo. prove me wrong.

typical.. you guys realize they do this to weed out the suckers first.. right? High prices.. people pay them, then after a year or so when the stuff's been out a while and most of the suckers have paid high prices, they'll do a "HALF PRICE VC WEEKEND" and thats when you all will flock to it!

I assume operah beta was the 'christmas surprise' they were referring too.. i guess thast okay now it gives me one more thing i wont bother doing with my console cuz i have a COMPUTER.

I'm sure there will be a whole lot more titles coming to the VC that were a lot worse than Tennis. Besides, imagine the outcry that would happen if they charged more for one NES title than they do for another? To some people, crappy NES game = great NES game, just because it's an NES game. They need to stay consistent because how do you price them individually? By opinion? Everybody has a different opinion on how good/bad every game is. I'm sure there is at least 1 person in the world who thinks Tennis is the best game ever (not me).

Bah humbug Nintendo! Your VC prices are a ripoff, either lower the price, give us some more options or actually give us the coupons for free VC games with Wii purchases like you promised. I wanted to give up my pirate days, but you're making it a) too hard and b) you won't bother translating the games that made me a pirate in the first place. I like the subscription fee option. I'd pay 10-15 dollars a month for unlimited downloads. It would certainly fix the problems people have with broken machines and having to re-buy stuff.

Does anyone know if Toejam and Earl requires the classic controller? Because I know there are other games that "require" the classic controller, even though when you go to the Shop Channel it clearly says otherwise. I am guessing it does because its a Sega port and the Genesis had a 3 button controller. But if it doesn't, it will be Christmas morning circa 1992 when I spent all day trying to beat that game.

Virtual Console is a stupid idea until they make a flat-fee subscription option. 5 bucks for some of this ancient crap is ridiculous. Nintendo needs to make themselves stand out from Microsoft here. They're already partway there since their release schedule is more impressive, but they need to really drive it home by offering a better pricing scheme as well. 10-15 bucks a month is the way to go, and I'd hope before long (once they have a few more games available on there) that they are smart enough to do it.

I was kind of disappointed that tennis was 5 bucks. This is the exact same emulated game you get in Animal Crossing on the GC for free. As long as you turn in enough coupons to ol Tom Nook, you can "buy" many of the VC games, like pinball and Donkey Kong, without spending any real money. The GC Animal Crossing game costs $20 and comes with a memory card--some of the numbers just don't add up in my head.

It's probably for consistency reasons, but there's no way tennis should cost the same as SMB, not if they actually want to sell any copies of tennis, that is.

Note that it was Nintendo UK, NOT Nintendo of America, who told Eurogamer that the games would not be free. Though it's unlikely, it's possible that NOA may offer one or two as a freebie -- different regions do different things, and NOA has so far said nothing.

Yeah I'll just be firing up my SNES with my Super Mario All Stars + World cart (one of the best finds ever).

Nintendo seriously needs to get their act together with this VC madness. The other day I almost considered buying Sonic...and then I decided to go pick up Sonic Mega Collection for about 4$ more.

Nintendo needs to get in gear and start giving us some worthwhile 64 and SNES games. If Nintendo would give us the option to download some games I wouldn't mind having/playing on my Wii (DKC, Mario RPG...both of which we already know are coming anyway) or lowered the price to $8,$5,$3 I would download some, but until then, the VC is sucking.

I'd have to agree, there needs to be some type of preview play for some games. I don't want to wipe my ass with five bucks to play something for the first time, and find out there's a good reason I'd never played it before.

They won't do that unless it makes them considerably more money than they would get by selling them for 500 points. I don't think Nintendo would go for the "they're available on Warez sites" argument either. I personally don't mind paying for good games which I hadn't played - most TG16 and Genesis games fall into that category for me.

I kind of wish Nes games were just a penny or nickel to play each time. Maybe just have one NES channel that you go to and browse titles to play and your account is just charges a point or 5 for each play. And by play I mean every time you select it you can play for as long as you want. Just sounds more reasonable, especially since they are ports and pretty much everywhere on the internet.
