The guy's a graphic designer, and he wasn't trying to land a job at Nintendo: it was just an expression of how boring he thought games hardware had become, and how it could be much more interesting. It's good that the actual console wound up being every bit as interesting.

VakeroRokero, but this didn't come out one day before the big Revolution announcement. This came out a couple of days before E3, and the RevMote was announced at the Japanese conference months later. Drop all conspiracy theories, this was just a guy who obviously worked in a business where he had access to industry-level hardware in off-hours. Also of note, Reggie was interviewed at E3 a few days after this video broke, and was asked if he saw it. He said that he hadn't even HEARD of it, and that he doesn't really concern himself with rumors and speculations. C'mon! This wasn't just some photoshop'd mash-up controller that someone made. You can't tell me this video didn't make its rounds very quickly at N, and that Reggie didn't at least hear it, or even see it. My thoughts? Plausible Deniability. Reggie saw it, and didn't want to comment on it so that this person can't sue Nintendo if they ever implement any of those ideas. It's just like how TV shows don't accept unsolicited scripts, because if they ever use an idea that was from a fan, that person could sue them. I agree, this guy was just looking to turn some heads, and land a job. That was his own personal "hire me, please!" viral campaign.

I'm pretty sure this was made by Nintendo just to throw people off, who knows what kind of roumors and spies are running around in the game industry. Any regular dude wouldn't have the $$$ and resources to pull this amazing hommage just to make a point?? yeah right. This was a paid advertisement. look at the end of the video, that's a ton of work just a 3 second clip. I'm sure this was Nintendo's disruptive campaign at its best. the other idea I get is that this was made by sony or microsoft to steal nintendo's thunder 1 day before the announcement and then everyone was dissapointed it was fake. This is a billion dollar bussiness after all.

I recall reading something about the guy who did this. If I remember correctly, he put this together in the hopes of getting Nintendo's attention and possibly landing a gig over there. If it didn't catch Nintendo's attention, I'm sure it caught everone else's. Considering the magnitude of the production itself (idea is a little far-fetched, but that's the point), and the impact this made when it first came out, I hope he got something out of it! The timing and "marketing" behind this was perfect.

He did this trying to get a job with Nintendo. Also in the making of this video his computer crashed, pretty much finished it with in 2 weeks (alot of sleepless nights) If I can find his story, I will make sure to post it.
