Direct2drive: they just sell games
Greenhouse: they just sell independent games
Impulse: Demigod was a disappointment and that star fleet/strategy game was good but it's only one game compared to Valve's 10 games.
If these other digital distributers want to compete with Steam then they need to make games that take advantage of the service they're trying to offer us.

DollaBill

in the cutscene previous to a mission you hear the secdef say "you warned us general, we didnt listen, you have a blank cheque"
i believe he warned the government this would happen, and then made it happen, in order to get the blank check he needed, im still not sure why he wanted 141 dead though, i might have to replay to gather every little detail but overall, the general was to start with the bad guy. loved the games ending (wont spoil that quite yet even though im sure everyone here is done the game)

ToastyUterus

The plot twist seemed kinda for plot twist's sake. Getting shot at the end of No Russian was much more effective to me. I guess what bothered me was the getting burned alive part. Sure the dude was corrupt, but to burn one of his soldiers alive rather than finish them off first seemed overly sadistic.

As for the territory defense level, i enjoyed it, though i did suffer some frustration with the checkpoints. Twice i reached checkpoints right as a shit-ton of dudes started shooting the computer with me too far to do anything about it. A small gripe though, as restarting the level doesn't put you back that far.

Also, as much as I've disliked some of the summer blockbuster silliness of many of the set pieces, I really enjoyed playing through the storm of falling helicopters. It was a very cool visual.

Rendo

You'll need more than a few marines to counter a BC since a marine has 40hp and does 6dmg while a BC does 25 dmg a shot and has 500hp.

Theoretically a guy with a rifle can take down a fighter plane. A modern high powered rifle has a range of several kilometres and most planes fly below this. It does happen and more so with lower flying craft. It's not hard to imagine the guasse guns the marines use can hit something a few kilometres away.

With a good auto-targeting system or a lucky shot it could damage a battle cruiser just like a rifleman can down a fighter jet. Not likely but possible.

kingmanic

@Yonderboy: Makarov, being a sympathizer of Zakhaev, wanted chaos in America. Shepard was pissed by how the U.S. government "just fuckin' watched" after Zakhaev's nuclear strike in the first game, and wanted complete control over the Army and a blank check.

So Shepard helps Makarov get his war: he places Joseph Allen in Makarov's unit, telling Allen that he'll be an undercover operative, when really he and Makarov want Allen- and thus, America as a whole- to take the fall for one of Makarov's terrorist actions. Relations between the U.S. and Russia are strained because of the first game, and Zakhaev's death has made Russia believe that the U.S. is planning an attack on them. Allen's corpse makes it look like the U.S. is attacking Russia, and they take action- an assault on America.

Makarov gets his war and Shepard gets his blank check, but Shepard wants to be seen as a hero. He has Task Force 141 collect Makarov's hard drive, containing any and all evidence that could convict him, and kills the 141 agents who got the drive so that there could be no evidence linking him to the crime. At the same time, he sets up a deal with Makarov that is actually a trap- he now wants to kill Makarov so that he can't speak out about Shepard's crimes.

I really hate it that gamers make themselves out to be the victim's of Greedy game companies when its THERE fault this is happening in the first place.

Would this be happening if gamers didn't show to the companies that they will buy into so called "Unlock Patches" en mass? No, it would not be.

Say what you will, but in the end people are going to and always will be willing to pay for something that they don't have off the bat that they like the looks of it.

Maybe it also has to do with the sense of entitlement (PC) gamers have built up over the years. That game makers owe them for supporting them and thier games, so they expect to be treated to features and free content that those on consoles ether don't get or have to pay for. But things change.

Blastarr
