With corridors made of bamboo, a roof layered with flowering sedum plants and buildings named after Mario, Donkey Kong, Yoshi and Wario, Nintendo's new Redmond headquarters sounds every bit as fanciful as the games the publisher makes. More »

For Wii owners bemoaning the lack of "core" targeted software coming from Nintendo, there's Wario Land: Shake It!, an unapologetically old-school 2D platformer starring the anti-Mario on a hunt for treasure. The micron thin plot is a forgettable excuse to guide the gluttonous Wario through five worlds of no-frills running, jumping, coin-collecting and butt-slamming. It's surprisingly pretty for a Wario game but its also amazingly brief.

You asked for it, you got it. Is Wario Land: Shake It! the answer to your classic gaming prayers or is merely a 16-bit era relic with a pretty polish? <a href="http://kotaku.com/5054330/wario-land-shake-it-review-shakin-to-the-core" title="Click here to read more about Wario Land: Shake It! Take a gander at the recently announced Wario Land Shake, which, crap scan aside, looks pretty great. The game will apparently have hand-drawn character animation, sport 20 stages and mix-and-mash straight up D-pad and buttion pressing with Wii-mote shaking. Squint at the above scan to see what kind of shake-action the game has. More »

While all of the other members of the Smash Bros. Brawl cast can change the color of their costumes or change accessories, Wario gets his very own change of clothes, presumably once he blows a hole in his other pants. Along with the Blue Oyster Wario we've seen since the very first trailers ran, classic Wario will make an appearance, wearing his traditional suspenders and cap combo in a variety of different colors and (gag) flavors. The promised daily weekday updates continue at the Smash Bros. Dojo! Join us later this week to see if Masahiro Sakurai finally breaks down and just posts a picture of his name scribbled over and over again on a diner napkin. More »

The wags at ScrewAttack have a new video out chronicling the Ten Biggest Douchebags of Gaming. Wario is there as is my arch nemesis, the Burger King, but not all the douches are digital. Our favorite lawyer friend (who shall not be named lest he arive in a puff of sulfurous smoke) makes an appearance as well. Who's at number one? It might not be who you think, but I'll say it's a classic character who isn't human. So, the honeymoon's over and the novelty's worn off by now. A good chunk of us got our Wiis and have played Wii Sports, Twilight Princess or Wario Ware: Smooth Moves into the ground. While North Americans get Wario Ware Smooth Moves this week, the Japanese are gearing up for the greedy one's next DS outing, Kaitou Wario the Seven. Coming to the states as Wario: Master of Disguise, the game features traditional Wario-style platforming, but with sexy DS gimmickry. Wario must overcome obstacles using one of seven disguises, including Thief Wario, Bat Wario, Torpedo-riding-pirate Wario and Cosmic Wario. Use the stylus to draw shapes and icons for a quick change. More »

My personal Wii system seller, Wario Ware Smooth Moves, looks better than I could have possibly imagined. This five-minute preview shows off (I assume) 9-Volt's section of microgames, all based on classic Nintendo franchises. Great allusions to Punch-Out!!, Wind Waker, Starfox, Ocarina of Time, Animal Crossing, Metroid Prime... everything really. I almost wish I could unwatch it to see these again for the first time. Michael McWhertor More »
