Video game consoles are illegal in China. Ironically, the Wii, the PS3 and the Xbox 360 are Chinese made. And there is a flourishing PC gaming culture. There has to be a reason for this ban. Turns out, there is. More »

It's spreading. To Europe. China's Wii rip-off, the Vii, has apparently been reskinned for the French. This made in China machine plays six games (Tennis, Football, Boxing, Bowling, Ping Pong and Baseball) and retails for €40. Accessories include a bat and what looks like three <strike>spoons</strike> rackets. Yes, we're calling it the "Ouii." More »

Remember the Vii? Surely, it's burned somewhere into the back of your brain. The Chinese Wii rip-off has gotten a Japanese localization called V-Sports. We're pretty sure the Vii isn't text heavy, so localizing it was a cake walk. This release does mean more Japanese people can point and laugh at it, too! The console is retailing for ¥7,980 (US $79). That's not very funny at all. Then again, never is the current dollar-yen exchange rate. <a href="http://kotaku.com/373910/chinese-wii-rip+off-localized-for-japan" title="Click here to read more about Chinese Wii Rip-Off Localized For... YouTuber Ashens takes one for the team and imports a KenSingTon Sport Vii to point and laugh at. The shocker? It's not as bad as you'd think. (It's still pretty bad, though.)

Our favorite Chinese copycat the Vii has another ripoff rival: the, are you ready, "Winner." It's not just a game machine, it's a super clone! The Winner features a photo player, karaoke functions and SDHC for media storage. It plays 2D and 3D games with online. There's even a Wii-mote knock-off (not a SIXAXIS!) with motion sensing capabilities. It will sell for somewhere between US$120-$150. The maker is promising million consoles for the North American and Japanese markets. The line starts here!
