Mostly because it wasn't based on a game, and as such, would have received absolutely zero press (as opposed to the slight amounts of press he gets from a strangely-obsessed gaming media). That means that the DVD version of the game's going to be a tough sell! So to sweeten the deal with Boll's primary (only?) fanbase, the DVD box set is going to come bundled with a copy of Advent Rising on the PC. Oh! Uwe Boll's movie adaptation of Postal came out this weekend and we totally forgot about it. That might have something to do with the fact that it opened on thirteen screens. That's obviously small potatoes but far, far better than the four screens it was reported to bow on previously. Postal Blu-ray Coming In August

Statistically speaking, the chance of you catching Uwe Boll's Postal in the theater is extremely low, and now that we are all feeling either saddened or mildly bemused at his plight with the film adaptation of Running With Scissors' over-the-top game franchise I'm sure we're itching to catch the film when it hits retail outlets. We'll have our chance on August 26th, the day newbie blu-ray publisher UMVD Visual Entertainment has slated for the high-definition release. High-Def Digest has an interesting description for the release in their announcement post.

Directed by much-derided shlockmeister Uwe Boll, 'Postal' stars Zack Ward as a misfit who sets out to rob his local amusement park while getting mixed-up with a faction of the Taliban. Barely released in U.S. cinemas last year, the film grossed less than $5 million at the box office domestically.

Interesting. I suppose saying less than $5 million does cover everything from $1 on up. Let's just hope more than four retailers pick up the disc when it comes out. More »

You have to feel a bit bad for Uwe Boll at this point. Granted he's made some terrible movies, but he didn't deserve to have his big Postal movie that he was all excited about limited to only four movie screens across the entire country. On the movie's official website, Boll takes a moment to vent about websites that are claiming this setback as a triumph against him.

In an interview over at New York Magazine in which he explains how he'd be a perfect fit for a Grand Theft Auto movie, Uwe is asked how he would deal with video game fans who feel he is raping their games with his horrible movie interpretations.

I think right in the Internet world there is a more interesting strategy I could go with. I have the rights to [Wii game] Zombie Massacre, and maybe we should do that movie with all the gamers and Boll haters, and people who signed that petition anti-Boll, or pro-Boll, we all meet in a big, small city — somewhere in the Midwest. And we all shoot Zombie Massacre together; they all play zombies, and they're there and can give me advice if they think they can do it better than me.

Could you imagine? Uwe Boll with a gigantic horde of gamer zombies, letting them give him input on how to make the film? How could Uwe Boll's Bloodrayne go wrong? They had a hot video game property, a gorgeous leading lady in Kristanna Loken, Phantom star Billy Zane...oh there we go. You should never listen to Billy Zane. According to a suit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, Boll is suing the Phantom star for $700,000 in lost revenues over the 2006 'film'. Zane allegedly suggested that Romar Entertainment handle the distribution of the film, with a $10 million advance going to the company towards a promised 2,000 screen opening, which explains where Bloodrayne's special effects budget went. The movie went on to open on only 950 screens, making back only $4 million of its $25 million budget. Boll claims that $900,000 of that $10 million advance went to Billy Zane and Romar principal James Schramm. If Boll's claims holds true, this would mean he began losing money on Bloodrayne before the movie was even released. The man is a master filmmaker, ladies and gentlemen. More »
