To: Crecente From: Bashcraft RE: Dr No Period In Osaka, there are little trucks that drive around asking if you want to sell your old electronics (like TVs, video game consoles, blah, blah, blah). We have a small television and an old computer monitor that were just taking up space. To throw away stuff like that you need to get a special sticker or pay to have it hauled off or something. You can't just throw that stuff away — pretty sure it's the same everywhere. Anyway, heard the loudspeaker from the truck and flagged the guy down. He was a young dude, and I asked how much it would cost me for him to haul off a TV and a monitor. He said he didn't know, but to bring them down so he could take a look. I did. He took a look and said that the TV would cost me a thousand yen (about ten bucks) for him to haul it off and four thousand yen for the monitor. He said the computer monitor was really big. I told him that was too expensive, and said forget it, that I saw that another service would take computer monitors for a thousand yen. The guy said "Wait." That he would buy them both for 4,000 yen. I walked back towards my apartment, and he said 3,000 yen. I said 2,500 yen was the most I'd pay, and he said okay. I probably overpaid.
