@Komrade Kayce: For a Prinny-Free Kotaku.: There was a Smash bros rip-off game for the XBox called Kung Fu Chaos that was not only incredibly fun and awesome, but also horrendously stereotypical of Asians. Me and one of my best buddies still laugh over some of the accent the director had.

@stupid_mcgee: simply the stupidest: Pretty much every movie until the 70s/80s and video game up until the 90s could be extremely racist and no one seemed to mind.

Pretty much whoever we're at war with it becomes socially acceptable to be racist towards. Also we can lock them up without due process or fair trail and torture them and completely demean whoever it may be during war time. Actually, now that I think about it, we've been doing that as a nation since our inception, but we finally made a law for it during our most recent "war", the Patriot Act, and suddenly it's controversial. It doesn't make it any better, or right for that matter, but nothings really changed. We're still assholes.

Furthermore, we're always at war with the south, so it's perfectly acceptable to shoot rednecks in a videogame.

@madog: All of this iConfederatess reminding me of Harry Turtledove's novels, where there is a war between the USA and the Confederates (and Canada) well into the 20th century. Up to and including Rednecks going to war with Nazis. Weird shit.

Possibly weirder is the novel The Texas-Israeli War, where Israeli soldiers go to war with Texas that split off from the USA. Is this making fun of conservatives or what, I wonder.

Which books are those, the ones about the second american civil war that ends up changing history enough to make for a whole series? Havent read those.

Guns of the south and Worldwar (the series, then the Aftershocks books etc) and now The Man With the Iron Heart are my favourite of his.

I think that "etc" is unnecessary, unless there's a list of successful Blizzard franchises I don't know about. As I understand it (and the product catalog that came with WOTLK confirms this) Warcraft, Starcraft and Diablo is Blizzards franchise catalog.

Anyway, this is an odd piece of news. The Redneck Rampage series doesn't really seem like Blizzards sort of thing. But if it's true, I'll be quite curious what it turns into.

Anyway, a Redneck Starcraft is on cinderblocks in the front yard.

@etho: I was also wondering what the cetera was as well. I do remember one game, too lazy with my iPhone to check my facts, but it was called Blackthorne or blackheart or something similar. I believe it was Blizz.

Even if it wasn't I still liked that game. An old platfurm shooter on SNES and PC.

Might as well mention that I liked Rock N Roll racing as that seems to have about as much relevance here as Blackthorne......

I loved those games. A new one would be interesting, but I hope that's not what they have planned. Like many of the Build engine titles, the engine itself is what helped make them great.
