Thats kinda lame.
It'll be so wrapped up in DRM it'll be worthless.
At least DVD is fairly universal, and you can rip it to a USB stick if you want.
Anyway I'm getting Star Trek on Blu-Ray. cos it's so a film worth having on Blu-ray. (and it'll be easier to spot R2D2 in HD)
Transformers 2 I think I'll pass.
at least until I develop a high speed DVD firer, then I can shoot polycarbide discs at Labeouf n Fox at speeds that may embed in their skulls. the impeding brain damage may improve their acting skills. #xbox360

@flanker22: Star Trek's VFX is done by ILM. Same with Transformers.,
And they sneak R2 D2 into as an Easter Egg..
As of yet he's not been found in Star Trek.
(I'm a VFX Student not a dumbass ;)
And as 32GB drives are still astronomically priced I doubt they will be in HD quality. Unless they stick it on a smaller drive n rape the moveis with a harsh codec to make it fit, in which case you may as well get the DVD version. #xbox360

What scene is that? I can hardly make out anything in Transformers films, even when they are standing still...
Also, after a quick google, and sorry if this spoils the fun...

It's like the Digital Copy stuff that comes with Blu-Ray. I guess its easier than ripping a Blu-Ray then shrinking it so you can fit it on a PMP, but still a bit icky in the DRM it's tied up with.
Actualyl with it using DivX it should be possible to watch on a PS3. I know You can register your PS3 for some DivX DRM thing. Think it came with FW2.30 or something. Just turn it on the menu like you do for WMV/WMA playback. #xbox360

But yes I played a bit. Though only a few rounds (and everyone carries on choosing the train wreck, I much prefer lost city)
But ended up on TF2 KOTH_Harvest instead (only admin around for our server)
How long does it last? I got the day off so I can play if your up for it. I know I've promised Mason some Co-Op now he has it. #xbox360

On the flip side I absolutely loved the new Star Trek film. They completely reinvented the franchise, while at the same time staying true to the old stuff (in a very clever way), and the film also payed countless homages to the old stuff. There are just too many references to count :).
I also <3 the new Enterprise. I was worried they'd completely butcher it. Thunderbirds film style. But I was suprised to see it stayed mostly faithful to the old ones.
And what is ironic is that both films had the same writers.
PS That is one awesome Star Trek box. I love the half built enterprise.

I agree, though... the PS3 Slim looks like a great piece of hardware, and with the price drop, I've actually thought of picking up a PS3 Slim, if only for its Blu-Ray capabilities. But it's going to come down to games and, as of right now, I'm having a hard time looking at the PS3's library and justifying a purchase.

But what's funnier is the fact that it's taken until now (that's about 2 years) for the PS3 to actually become affordable here in Australia. And even then it's still $200 more expensive than what people in the US are paying.

I'm currently attending college and, while I'm not completely broke, I do need to budget and be relatively conservative about what I spend. So for me, investing in a PS3 would be a major purchase.
Perhaps you, or someone else that would like to add in, would like to recommend a few key titles to look into? I'm always up for trying new games and I can probably look into seeing if my school's library carries them.

Honestly if you look at it, PS3 has quite a bit more exclusives than most people tend to think (and sadly, stereotype).

End. Of. Story.
For me, it's all about the games. Hands down. And right now, for me, X360 has the edge.
Sure, there are some PS3 games that I'd like to try, but nothing that makes me think "zomgwtfbbq I HAVE to have that!"
I jumped into the X360 about two years ago, and I love it to death. And it simply comes down to the games. Orange Box? Hell yes. Fallout 3? Do want. Mercenaries 2? Pew pew!
If the PS3 had games I wanted to play, I'd totally get one, but for me, they just aren't there. It's still early-ish in the PS3 lifecycle and as developers get familiar with it, better games will arrive. When that time comes, I'll be handing over the credit card and unplugging the phone.
It's all about the games.

I love most of the exclusive games for both systems, but I think I like my PS3 just a tiny bit more.
Also I lost interest in Halo, like, forever ago. First one was cool, but after that I just don't need anymore Halo.

Both Services can get laggy and both can disconnect you, so it's not like the level of online play when you actually get in a game is better on XBL. I've also played games on PSN that were smooth as butter. Most of them are, in fact.

I'd venture to say the PS1 list is a LOT better than the Xbox 1 list, at least for single player games.
You also missed the fact PS3 is import friendly with PS3 games, and you can import PS1 games via download (but not disc) from other regions' stores.
2 more plusses for PS3
Oh... And PS3's controllers are rechargable NATIVELY. 360 and Wii still used normal batteries, last I checked.

I have re-chargable 360 controllers.
Regardless, the point of this comment was to point out that only first gen PS3's have BC.
It was removed so that sony could re-sell the games Nintendo style on their online store.

If they were comparing everything that Sony has put out vs Microsoft then, maybe, your point would stand. But they aren't.
