So. What does that actually mean? We don't know! Though we guess it shows the service is a lot more popular than most people figured. That or it shows how big a proportion of the 360's install base is American, what with the woeful state of everyone else's video marketplaces.

<![CDATA[ British 360 Vid Marketplace Gets...Michael Jackson Videos ]]> Poor Britain. Your 360 Video Marketplace, it was so late! And is still woefully understocked! What could possibly make amends for this? How about...uh, five Michael Jackson videos? Bad, Billie Jean, Thriller, Beat It and Black or White are all available, all for 200 points, and all - sadly for the legions of Macaulay Culkin fans in Ireland and the United Kingdom - all in standard definition. No, before you ask, I don't know why the hell they're there either.

<![CDATA[ Robot Chicken Star Wars Special On XBL Video Marketplace ]]> Seen the Robot Chicken Star Wars special yet? It's...OK. Some awful stuff, some stuff you've seen before, but Admiral Ackbar's cereal is always good for a chortle. I bring this up because it's now available on the Xbox Live Video Marketplace for 240 MS points (US-only, though, I'm afraid).

<![CDATA[ Xbox Live Vid Pumps up Lion Gate Revenue ]]> Xbox%2520Live.jpg

Lions Gate Entertainment reports that the demand services, including Xbox Live's Video Marketplace, has helped drive up their revenue by 50 percent.

Their 15 films on the Xbox Live service have been downloaded about 150,000 times.

"Our VOD revenues grew by approximately 50% in fiscal 2007 from the previous year," said Lions Gate's Feltheimer, adding, "our Internet delivered digital revenue grew by a multiple of 7 in fiscal '07 compared to the prior year, although obviously from a relatively small base."

Company president Steve Beeks added that the Xbox Live Video Marketplace is an "extremely promising sign for our entire library..."

Wow, I can't believe people actually use the service. I just can't get my mind around having to download a movie to watch it. Of course I haven't tried sense the Video Marketplace's launch fiasco, so maybe it has gotten much better.

<![CDATA[ Daily Show, Colbert Report Bring Fake News To Xbox Live Video Marketplace ]]> WIth all good news must come some bad. I'll start with the former. The folks at Xbox 360-land have announced that they've partnered with Comedy Central to bring The Daily Show's semi-fake news reporting and The Colbert Report's brand of truthiness to the Xbox Live Video Marketplace. Episodes will show up some six hours after their original airing. Everything's still pretty good so far...

The bad news? Each episode will set you back 160 Microsoft Points or $2 real-world money. A bit pricey for 24 minutes of TV, no?

I know, I know. Freedom isn't free and neither is quality video content. At least you can still watch Stewart and Colbert make with the funny on ComedyCentral.com.
