PS3 doesn't have enough JRPGs yet, and I'm not too difficult when it comes to games.
A game doesn't have to be a perfect 9+/10 for me to enjoy it.
Hopefully if it does come out for PS3 they'll fix what's wrong with the game, but if not, I'm pretty sure I could still get some enjoyment out of the game.

in a way i wish i could avoid all the info on FF13, mainly because its been such a long time since i have played a FF. the most awesome part about playing FF's is running into the things that we connect to the others ex:summons,side characters,cactuar,etc. as it is seeing Cid pop up would have been a nice surprise, just to see him , and also what kind of badass version of highwind he will show up in.
my wanting to play this game so bad makes me click on anything FF13 related... but i cant help but feel like much of the game's surprise will be lost through many of these developments on the internet,mainly kotaku because i have cut down on the number of gaming sites i check out to about 4. i was getting way outta hand.
to be quite honest there are only 2 things i really want to know, and that is:
a) will there be a collectors edition
b) will it have the games sountrack,and if not when can i buy it here.
unfortunately if a do the block anything FF13 related on here, i may just miss that news altogether, seeing as i come here every single day.
so yeah i kinda have a dilemma on my hands..lol again i'm not knocking kotaku for posting the info, they are doing their jobs... its just i wish FF13 will remain somewhat of a mystery to me when i unwrap the seal on March 9 2009.

I'm contemplating leaving the internet for this very reason...... *erk* *tick* *twitch* but i can't.
I don't think I was part of any blog gaming community until I got a PS3, now it's like I know every detail of every game I purchased, a month before it's release.
FF is the only series I vowed to follow if I even quit gaming all together. but I feel like I can never have enough info on the game, which eventually will lead to spoilers. :(

I have been specifically staying away from the info.
About all I know is there is Lightning, Snow and Summon/Cars. And I'm guessing there is an empire causing shennanigans.
I remember back in FF8. The only info I saw beforehand was the opening movie. And it was glorious.

Or maybe it's just because he looks fucking bland.I liked the older versions of Cid better.They had character. In fact, the character designs from older FF games had great character design even with out all of the graphical power we have these days. Now they just look like overdressed soap opera stars. Everybody is young and pretty.

And just about every FF character has ALWAYS looked like overdressed soap opera stars? (see Dissidia), weren't they young and pretty back in IV-VI?
I don't know WHERE this lamenting on character designing/creation came from...FF has ALWAYS had outrageous, convoluted, borderline tacky, anime clothing. Nomura did NOT create that, he's just a easier target because people fawn over Amano's designs. Why..I have NO clue. And it's vice versa...
Although XIII designs aren't my favourite, they are not awful to say the least.
Just so you know, I agree with you....Cid's outfit looks a little overdone but it's Final Fantasy, it wouldn't be one if there wasn't at least ONE character that didn't look flashy...

lol. Seriously, I don't know why and it's probably nostalgia, but the new designs just look ....weird to me. Everything looks too perfect and.....fashionable. It's like they are scared to create a character that won't be posted on teenage girls walls or something.

They're BOTH overrated but Nomura is by NO means bad..
Well, fans rejoice, Nomura won't be on FFXV...there's going to be someone else taking the helm.

LOL! I feel you, I'm a little 'Wut?' on the young Cid...but I guess SE got such major flack on the Cids from XII that they just went with the good ole 'Let's please the fangirls!' card. Who knows what's going on over there anymore my friend....I'm at a loss too.
It's nostalgia bro, no shame...I hope it didn't seem like I was attacking you. That wasn't my intentions, it's just this debate over oldschool/newschool FFs has been going on forever.
And hey, look at Cid, he's for the fangirls that weren't warming up to Snow...here's the break down.
Snow-Bara (muscle men) a select group of women/girls (me...)
Hope-Shotabait (underage boys) a select group of women/girls (not me)
Cid-Bishounen (really pretty guy) Just about all women/girls. (I'd tap it.)
Same applies to Lightning, Vanille and Fang.
The only difference here is that SE decided to throw the Shota lovers a bone in this iteration...they usually play up to the Loli lovers.

Also if you step on any cracks while walking the world map your party instantly KO's, at any moment in the game you have a chance of being inflicted with Curse. And if you get crossed by a black Coeurl. Well you may as well quit the game.

Had they been able to get the game to run better for it's initial release it would have been much better received. Still it's too bad Square pretty much abandoned the game on PS3. Once again, had they been able to get performance under wraps, the game probably would have sold well.

They are just there, its like having Goombas in Mario games, Pipboy in Fallout, Tirforce in Zelda, its just a series hallmark.

Cid, I think, is just something to tie the games together. They could have named any of these characters anything and it wouldn't have made a lick of difference. But each Final Fantasy game takes place in a different scenario, with different characters and a different world. The Cids, the Summoned Monsters/Espers/Guardian Forces, crystals and such exist in similar forms from game to game so the series can be called a series.

As for making it a series, its the same with Goombas, you could have different enemys, there's no reason to have the same one in each game, its just the binding glue of the Mario franchises.
However we still haven't figured out why Cid is in them all. It could of been any other consistent character, but its not . And I think its a good question to ask why we have Cid, why we have consistent characters.
The Protagonist change with every game, the enemies can change radically too. Yet Cid remains.
