Got a feeling this will come out well before Duality, the Duke Nukem Forever of XNA. This release completely caught me off guard since I thought Grapple Buggy was the next release. Looks decent enough for me to grab it if it comes in at 80 points, but that trailer makes things look too easy.
Cable is nice and all, but I just couldn't justify the price after I graduated college and moved out of my four-roommate living situation. I find this results in less mindless watching for hours at a time.
The digital broadcast switch literally doubled the amount of free channels in my area, though, so I can always find something to watch if I feel like vegging on the couch for a bit. Plus there's YouTube through my PS3.
Honestly I just download the tv series I'm interested in each week (only a couple). Otherwise I don't even watch TV and I don't remember the last time I did.
I like my friends idea though, he puts the money he saves from not having any from of cable/satellite into paying for his connection and for this area, its a really badass connection.

I recently dropped cable television in favor of internet-only offerings. I watch HD network TV over the air, and the only cable shows I really watch faithfully are available online the day after airing, so I don't miss anything. It is nice having an extra $70 a month, though.
I kinda wish HBO would be available through Netflix or Xbox LIVE or somesuch; I love its original programming, but can't justify the cost - I'd essentially be paying the full price of a cable subscription ($70 in my area) plus another $15-20 a month just for a few (admittedly excellent) shows. I can wait for the DVD releases, of course, but I'm not terribly fond of being lost in conversation with friends when they discuss the latest episode of, say, Bored to Death. I also wish Netflix would offer a better selection of new movies online, but I can deal with their through-the-mail service in the meantime.
Yup, this is how I do it. The 360 streams from Netflix as well as the desktop in my office. I hook the laptop up every so often to watch new shows on Hulu.
However, while I don't have a cable box, I live in NYC, where almost every apartment gets a few channels through the cable wire. Just the networks, cspans, public access, and a lot of home shopping. I don't watch it often, and it's not in HD, but it's there.
Been doing this for a long time. I just don't see the need for cable when I only watch a few shows, and I can get said shows online and legally. I don't get to see them the second they air, but big whoop. It's not hard to avoid spoilers for a day.
That's it... and look upon this moment. Savor it! Rejoice with great gladness! Great gladness! Remember it always, for you are joined by it. You are One, under the stars. Remember it well, then... this day, this great victory. So that in the years ahead, you can say, 'I was there when the first couple dumped cable for Xbox, with my fellow Kotaku friends!' For it is the doom of men that they forget.
I'm living off the US military in Germany, and the only stuff we get is German television (of course) and whatever AFN (Armed Forces Network) can get their hands on. They're usually at least a season behind anything they show, although they do get the most important sports programs, albeit at ungodly hours (maybe 2 AM over here, which is 8 PM EST). The smart people just watch stuff for free off probably less-than-legal websites.

I haven't missed TV at all, really. Anything I want to catch up on for whatever reason I can watch after the fact online.
