the lack of a monk/martial artist class is why i have yet to play beyond a trial, it is my main calss that i have played across about 5 mmo's. and its my main character in city of heroes, so yeah, a monk might have gotten me playing.
@rianfrost: I wouldn't expect to see a monk class anytime soon, as battling with bare fists against people with epic swords...well, it doesn't feel like a good fit.
If you are so inclined, try a Rogue; they're definitely the premier fist-fighters, able to use fist-weapons to great effect, and their style is the most martial-artsy.
But yeah, it's World of Warcraft, and it's highly unlikely that you'll find anything closer to a martial artist any time soon. It's all about magic in WoW, with Rogues and Warriors only being able to keep up because of their poisons and tricks, and sheer brute strength, respectively.
Deathknights are the new hunters in the game no one wants to recruit them at all because they have gained the title as a noob class. Seems to be acceptable as a alt but not a main.
@Befitzero: Meh, my main is a Death Knight and I don't have many problems. If you do your job well and you're fun to play with, that's all you'll need in general.
The biggest problem I've had is trying to join up in PuG raids that are already brimming over with Death Knights.
@Ghlitch: @Paul_Is_Drunk: Yeah you know the lyrics in that song never made sense to me. Rain on your wedding day isn't ironic... Some people love rain (I know I do). A red light when you're already late isn't ironic either. A free ride when you've already paid however is.
@Ghlitch: @Paul_Is_Drunk: You may be mistaking the actual definition of ironic for Alanis' version which I referred to as 'ironical'. Ironicalcally that may not have cleared anything up.
@FACT.50: Rain on your wedding day is ironic; it's been a long-held superstitious belief that rain on the day of your wedding is a good omen, perhaps as a sign from the gods, blessing your union.
I still don't understand how they got from the idea of HERO to Death Knight. From a purely realistic look at things, if I were in trouble the last person I would want saving me would be someone called a Death Knight.
@Fallible: The Death Knight intro and story explain all of this. You are a hero because you were wretched, saved, claimed from the Lich King's grasp at the very cusp of his plan for you, and have been turned to fight for the free peoples and tribes.
@IndustrialJones: I'd pay good money to play as a Brewmaster. Twenty-four stalwart heroes battling the Lich King himself in his frozen citadel of Icecrown glacier, and me at the back of the room tossing out brews like some twisted form of Root Beer Tapper.
You joke, Fahey, but it's kinda surprising they're just getting to this now. It's not a new issue by any means. I remember being annoyed at not being able to do this kind of stuff while flying around Outland or what have you. It just makes sense, organize your inventory while you're flying over terrain you've seen a million times before...
@phacephister: Clam is a word which can be used for all, some, or only a few species of bivalve mollusks; the word is a common name which has no real taxonomic significance in biology. It is however quite widely used as part of the common names of bivalves, and also has significance in fisheries and cuisine.
In the USA, the word "clam" can be used in several different ways: one, is as a general term covering all bivalve mollusks. The word can also be used in a more limited sense, to mean bivalves which burrow in sediment, as opposed to ones which attach themselves to the substrate (for example oysters and mussels), or ones which can swim and are migratory, like scallops. In addition the word "clam" can be used in an even more limited sense, to mean one or more species of commonly consumed marine bivalves, as in the phrase clam chowder, meaning a thick shellfish soup usually made using the hard clam. Many edible bivalves have a roughly oval shape, however, the edible razor clam has an elongated, parallel-sided shell, whose shape suggests that of an old-fashioned straight razor.
@UltimatePancakeSensation: WoW is serious business. You have no idea the sacrifices people make to raid all night and then go to work at 8am the next day.
...But parsing your comment, you seem to believe that not enough people on Kotaku don't take WoW seriously, making you either my mortal enemy or a sloppy writer/speaker, which also makes you my mortal enemy.
Imagine you're riding around, when you try to open a clam. Then CLAM! You've pulled a few mobs.
Of course, Blizzard can't clam full credit for this change. The players have clamored for this for a long time on the forums. They'll clam down somewhat, but it's just a clam before the storm before the players of the most acclamed MMO find something new to gripe about.
Like the fact that Northern Eggs are used for just 1 recipe. Seriously, I'm not yoking.
Wow the highlight of WoW life awsome! But lets be serious thats all that was so important about this patch. I was hoping for more exciting patch then this. Other then the typical class changes. How long have they been working on this patch again?
@Cunder: You can't be serious; do you know how much stuff is in this patch?
Tons of tweaks and changes for many classes (especially Death Knights)...this patch is great! I'm loving it, and I only played a little on my lunch break so far.

Damn. That's the most gripping advertisement for WoW I've ever heard.
The question is though - can you have sex with said dragons?
