    @Tony Menza: Failing to defend a trademark can be used as grounds for future infringement.

    @LordMaim: Yeah, if you don't defend your trademark in this manner people can argue its in the public domain. That's what happened to asprin (it used to be a brand name of one type of acetylsalicylic acid, now it's just a synonym).

    @Megaman LXIX: Aspirin is still trademarked in Europe. Bayer just screwed up in the US and didn't registered it.
