Buying this system again? Why? WHY GOD WHY? I love my hard earned money and I won't do it again. I do have my refurb one at my house now, working properly, until god knows when. But when it fails I'll just sell it. I REFUSE to buy a second Xbox regardless of how much I like the game selection. It's just stupid to keep supporting a machine that brings you headaches from time to time. Just my 2 cents. MS needs to make a good product next time.
I've been looking for a cheap 360 to give to someone, and this would have been perfect. That Dell deal on an Arcade console isn't too bad, but having a HDD would have been nice.
I'm just waiting for the inevitable system in 20 years that plays PS3, 360, wii, PS2, PS1, Xbox1, Dreamcast, GC, Saturn, Sega CD, Turbo Duo, purchased roms a la VC, but doesn't play general mills funwave 3 games because that feature was stopping the Funwave 4 games from being purchased.
Take it from a game store manager. Microsoft has NEVER created a good refurb system. The old Xboxes and the 360s all break. We don't even display them in store any more because of this.
@Raziel: Woah, that's new for me, I never saw an old broken Xbox model in my life. A cousin of mine has one and its going strong for more than 5 years, But I did see P-L-E-N-T-Y of 360s broken.
@TrifeLife: Mine is fixed since yesterday, but if it fails again I sai fuck it. I will never buy a second unit in my lifetime. I agree 100% with you man. It's sad cause I like the game selection but the 360 is a POS machine.
@Indy_aka_Rex: I've enountered 3 refurbished 360s, personally. They lasted a week, an afternoon, and 10 minutes respectively. With new units, everyone I know IRL has only experienced Red Rings either never, or between 1-2 years after purchase.
I think there's some evidence here, but I'm not making a cynical remark about Microsoft's console so I guess my post is worthless.
@Fyro: When you send a 360 back to get fixed does it definitely start a new warranty? I'm just getting mine ready to send off tomorrow and am very interested to know if what you say is true.
It most certainly does NOT refresh your 3 year warranty. My friend's returned 360 RROD'd on him after his first RROD'd and the warranty info Microsoft had was from his original purchase and they wouldn't grant him an extention from when he got this new one, even though the new one he had had a manufacture date AFTER the purchase date of the original one. Bull Shit Microsoft.
@listerfeend: Makes sense, seeing as it would in effect be a lifetime warranty if what Fyro said is true (given that the console is almost certain to break again within each 3 year period).
@listerfeend: That's odd. When I returned my 360 for repairs after RROD, Microsoft informed me that I'd been given a new basic warranty, that could be extended up to 3 years if it RROD's, just like a new 360.
Maybe it was just a bad case of customer service, but Duckmouth, if you send it to microsoft you should still expect that upon return from them your xbox will have a new warranty.
Just to clarify, these probably aren't the reliable type. This is clearly the kind from back when the 360 still had a 20gb hard drive for the high end set.
@DimensionWarped: No, they aren't. It says it has an HDMI port, and thats a recent addition. But because they are refurbished, I would agree that they are potential time bombs.

What sense would that make... why don't you just get yours fixed by Microsoft, which in turn extends your warranty.
I'm sure its cheaper than buying this and only getting a 90 day warranty. + your xbox is probably covered still under its warranty so...
