My DS Lite with Wi-Fi included? $100.
The PS2 was $70 on sale two weeks ago.
My Belkin Wireless router? $60.
A 4GB iPod Shuffle? $89.99
My 1TB External Hard Drive? $99.99
@acj540: I hear its made of ademantium reinforced nanomachines and inside is a solid block of gold the nanomachines use to feed off of. Hence the price.
Why do you have to spend $100 to put the 360 on wifi connection, and then spend $50 a year for xbox live? Are you kidding me? What is this? The modern day Sega Genesis? Attachments and peripherals up the ass every which way there is?
-Wifi attachment
-HD DVD attachment (which failed)
-Camera attachment
-The power supply is external, as big as a brick, that counts as an attachment too.
-Project Natal, another attachment.
-The hard drive is technically an attachment.
Whats next? A device that prewarns you of the RRoD an hour before it occurs?
@mrjoeyyaya: lol, I hate their charges for wifi/online gaming as much as the next guy (maybe more so) but you can't really slander them for Natal/Camera/HDDVD attachment - the console launched before HD kicked off, the camera isn't needed for 99% of games and Natal hasn't even come out yet.
Don't forget that if you get the cheaper G adapter, it only supports WEP, so if you're using WPA or WPA2 and wireless is the only way you can go and you end up with that adapter, you'll have to intentionally make your wireless network less secure so your 360 can connect to it.
Typical of Microsoft, making people lower security. Makes me laugh.
@brass2themax: wep is just fine its just as safe thear all crack able within 10 mins any way
iknow when i move to the philippine i had the wifi crack in 5 min if you whant be 100% safe use lan i never put my data @ risk on a wifi net work i know how esy it is to hack in to
@Michael Buttler: WEP can take less than a minute to crack using a one button application.
WPA (AES) and WPA2 aren't easy to crack unless you are running a super computer and lets face it. If you are, you don't have no need to access someone else's internet because you are already paying for yours.
in case anyone is wondering a ps3 includes this in their system no need to pay extra and no need to attach some ugly antenna. what is this basic cable???
@Mike Newlad: Most users will have a hard time bottlenecking the PS3s wifi bandwidth. For those who do so on a regular basis, you can grab a 20$ adapter. Or plug in an RJ-45.
Not trying to start a fight or anything, but why wont microsoft just put in the 360 for free. I mean even the Wii had that. Personally i would never buy a wireless adapter for a console that in my opinion is already over priced.
@richterbelmont: I like that I can pick and choose what I want in a console to lower the cost. I'd rather buy an Arcade plus HD for roughly $200 total, possible with the Dell deal, than be forced to pay another $60-100 just to get the upgraded system with WiFi, assuming it'd be part of the Elite package. While the savings margins aren't as drastic thanks to the price cuts seen this year, it was a pretty large factor in the past years.
@Kobun: Sorry Kobun, but that's a very 2005 answer.
My freaking DS has Wi-Fi. There is no reason why the 360 shouldn't have it as well. It's just another excuse to nickle and dime customers who don't know any better.
@bakagaijin: Wireless is more important with portable gaming systems which are intended for use away from established Internet networks such as at a playground or on a train. I still don't see the lack of wireless in a console being a big deal, particularly since wired networks offer a more stable environment best suited for playing games over, but I'm sure your anecdotal evidence differs from mine. :p

Dell apparently is out of stock as of yesterday according to this CAG post, but you can see how people could get an Elite for about $200, which is a better (though temporary) deal than I originally offered. Dell's Arcade systems had been available for $170 for almost a year now, and you can grab a 20GB HDD from eBay for about $15-20.
@Kobun: Nah, hardwired is the way to go. My PS3 is hardwired. But I still think it should be included in all systems.(edit: well technically it is, except one. :P) When I worked at Circuit City, there were plenty of people who wanted Wi-Fi in their system of choice, and when it came to the Wii, PS3, handhelds etc. It was quite easy to explain what they needed to do, and most were pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to hook-up.
When 360 owners came in with the same question their responses weren't so pleasant. 9 times out of ten their response was "wtf".
People just don't want to spend money on this type of stuff, especially at $100 a wack. I still think it should be included.
But hey, we roll hardwired, so no sweat off our backs.
Yeah I don't get this. A bridge capable of N speeds over the 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz band can be had for $100 and that allows for multiple devices. Does this thing even do 5Ghz? 1080p is NOT going to stream smooth over 2.4Ghz even at N speeds. Sorry.

Without WIFI, Bluray or a battery pack it just doesn't make sense that this wouldn't be in the box.

According to [www.amazon.com] , the Arcade doesn't come with a hard drive and costs 199.99$.
Where do you get a hard drive included for 200$?
