The only GOP criticism I've heard that comes close to racism is that he's a closet Muslim, and I'm not even sure that would fall under racism.

Personally I can't stand the guy, but it has nothing to do with his cultural background. I'm glad we finally have an African-American in office. I just hate it's him.

Likewise, doing just that because Obama picked her? Hell, threatening to sink whoever was to become his nomination prior to picking Sotomayor? That's the kind of thing which seemingly goes beyond party politics and reeks of ignorant spite and, I do think on some levels within the party, racist, particularly at the "grass roots" talk radio level. Honestly, I cannot fathom any other reason to change course on a position nor have a prominent spokeperson within the party publicly wish he would fail and hurt his country.

Personally, I like what Obama has mostly done thus far, but I don't think I'd like him much myself if I knew the guy. He does come across as an elistist snob. Honestly, I'd probably get along with Nixon more than any recent president, aside from the fact that he's dead now. :p Anyway, I'd imagine you're intelligent enough to understand ignorance, stupidity, and so forth aren't bound any any contrived segment of a given population. I know there are kneejerk reactions on both sides of the fence, and it would be unfortunate for someone in your position being branded a racist from some objection of the president that has nothing to do with his race.
