Once they let us have the run of the place I made a beeline for the Rock Band booth. At E3 (or any other event I've been to this year for that matter) I wasn't able to get anywhere near it, so I was determined to check it out this time. I got my name in the hat for checking it out and when they called me they asked if i had anyone else I wanted to play with. Well, standing with me was none other than Mr. Destructoid and the lovely Colette from Destructoid.com as well as my friend Chris Furniss of the Weekly Geek so we decided to become the hottest multi-blog band at PAX and stormed the stage to give a stellar performance of Creep. We did pretty well with Chris on bass, Mr. Destructoid on drums, myself on guitar and Colette selling the crowd with her melodious voice and scored a respectable 97%.

The game was a blast and sharing it with my fellow friends and bloggers made it an extra amazing experience. This will definitely be a title that will quickly become a party classic, bringing drunken wanna be rockers together in the comfort of their living rooms regardless of talent. Just add a fog machine and you're a star, baby.

<![CDATA[Geeks List Top 5 Games As Art]]>

The kids over at the Weekly Geek have put together an interesting little piece about games as art. We all know that games are art no matter what Roger Ebert has to say about. (What the hell does he know from art, anyway? He made Beyond the Valley of the Dolls for corn's sake.)

But, there's no doubt that some games go beyond the typical to create a truly unique gaming experience that is based in part by the outstanding look of the game. Two of the best examples that I can think of in recent memory would be Shadow of the Colossus and Okami. Colossus' almost minimal approach and limited color pallette are in sharp contrast to Okami's painterly look and broad spectrum of colors, yet, each of these games are made great by the overall feeling one gets when viewing their visuals.

Frodo, The Geek and Caspian all weigh in with their separate lists in the article. I agree with most of their choices, but I also think that limiting it to five makes it a bit difficult to choose. What would be on your list for the Top 5 Games as Art?

<![CDATA[Shatner and the Elans: Uwe Boll Sucks at Canadian Awards Show]]>

Speaking of shat, Frodo of the Weekly Geek podcast relates the harrowing tale of the Elans, a new Canadian video game award show that sounds like it needs a bit of work, to put it lightly.

The first presenters came out and started going over nominees, and the same four games were nominated over and over again. Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones, Peter Jackson's King Kong, Need For Speed and Farcry Instincts: Predator. Over and over and over again they would play the same game trailer. I counted seeing the Prince of Persia trailer nine times over the whole evening. They would play the same trailer for score as they would for graphics, even if the trailer had no score in it.

This event is also discussed in detail in the Weekly Geek podcast, on which Tycho Brahe from Penny Arcade, Rikki Simons from Invader Zim and Shutterbox, and myself are guests (plug.).

My favorite story of the evening is an episode that Frodo cannot help but crow about, in which Uwe Boll is called up to the podium to present an award, and Frodo cannot contain his Geek Rage. He waits for a quiet moment.

"UWE BOLL SUCKS!"

Right you are, young master Frodo!
