Not does the cake look and sound absolutely amazing, "Bride" here goes above and beyond, integrating Mario into her special day to such an extent that the lucky man will need to show up to every anniversary with diamonds to even begin to deserve her.

"I had found pics of a very similar cake online, and it inspired me to create my own Mario cake and surprise my groom on our wedding day (November 5th). My groom is a professional video gamer, and his favorite game is Mario cart. We were married in Vegas, so I had the bottom tier a desert theme, and I went with the old school Peach Castle rather than a modern one. I'm brunette, and my groom a blonde, so I had them customize Peach and Mario accordingly. The only hint I gave my groom about the cake was I had a pair of Mario boxers delivered to him to wear during the ceremony the morning of the big day, and then I had our rings brought forth by the ring bearer on a 1-Up key-chain which later snuck itself into my bouquet for the rest of the day. The entire cake was edible, the desert tier was berries and creme, the galaxy was bouncy chocolate with chantilly cream, and the castle (which has been preserved in my freezer for the 1 year anniversary) is peanut butter chocolate. I hope you post the pics on your site, so your readers can find more inspiration for their own wedding creations!"

I don't know who her husband is, but if he ever hurts her there'll be a slew of gamers waiting to take his place. Line forms at my back, ladies and gentlemen.

<![CDATA[Popping the Question in Super Mario World]]> If her "awwww! Yes ... !" reaction doesn't melt your heart, then that little dog jumping and wagging his tail when they kiss will definitely finish you off.

We get a lot of video game proposals and weddings over the weekends - YouTube user bradsmith182 shows how to do it right. (Which is good, he only gets one shot, after all.) Simple level design, easy-to-read message, hidden cam to get her reaction and, of course, the dog. Man, the dog. I hope the little guy's a part of the wedding, although he looks like he might pee on a ringbearer out of excitement.

Congratulations bradsmith182 and Mrs. bradsmith182!

<![CDATA[Nerd Wedding Afoot, Mii Invitations Abound]]> Nerds get married all the time. Nothing new there. But nerds getting married in style, well, that is something new. This is the invite that's been sent out to friends and family of 4 Color Rebellion's Vinnk. And it's just great. Tasteful use of Miis in a formal ceremonial invitation and the joyous union of two crazy kids in love? Unprecedented.

<![CDATA[Wii Tops Amazon Wedding Gift Registry]]> Young couples in love who are soon to embrace in the lifelong partnership have one thing in mind: "Will my partner consider it cheating if I have sex with robots when said technology becomes available/attractive enough for me not to mind it so much?" The second thing on their minds, of course, is their wedding gift registry. And the number one registered wedding gift at Amazon is the Nintendo Wii. So in other words, the Nintendo Wii has become almost as important to both men and women as hot, on-demand robot sex.

The Xbox 360 comes in a close second, ranked behind countless Wii accessories and kitchen appliances at number 96. As for the PS3, it's a no show. But in all seriousness, examples like this one prove that the Wii has been accepted by both men and women as an entertainment device for the family. Kudos, Nintendo. Now please begin the manufacture of those robots we were talking about.

<![CDATA[The Zelda Vodka Luge (And Um... Mario Wedding Cake)]]> We're well aware of the fact that some of our readers are so humorless, so singularly focused on complaining between bouts of waiting to die, that the posting of kitschy video game cakes makes their blood boil. But, when someone delivers frosted awesome into our tips inbox, giving us a view into their wedding day baked goods, we're just pleased as punch. Take, for example, newlywed Cory of Blizzard Entertainment who had this gorgeous cake designed to commemorate the last day of his bachelorhood featuring a three-tiered Super Mario Bros. stack of deliciousness.

Not quite sure why the underwater level is hovering over world 1-1... but who are we to nitpick something this tasty and gorgeous?

While cake may genuinely be my favorite thing to ingest, alcohol may come a close second. That's why I was doubly impressed to see the wedding's ice luge.

Yes, that's the Master Sword and Hylien Shield from The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time delivering ice cold vodka to wedding invitees. Could anything be more perfect?

Those in the SoCal area who are interested in achieving this level of nerd-cool at their next social gathering will be happy to know that Cory plugged the creators of both. Professional cake maker Erica Obrien was responsible for the Mario creation, with Union Ice doing their best to get everyone drunk at freezing temperatures.

Thanks a bunch, Cory!

<![CDATA[The Tetris Cake]]> Kotakuite Ismet send in this snapshot from his friend's wedding in Singapore. The guy was such a huge Tetris fan, he actually bought a DS for the sole purpose of playing the new Tetris game. So, his sister and friends got together and had this Tetris cake for put together for his wedding. Apparently, the loose tetriminos you see on various parts of the cake actually had places to be inserted and the groom was required to "solve the puzzle" before finally cutting and distributing the cake. A truely fantastic tetris cake for a truly obsessive Tetris fan.

<![CDATA[The Wedding Present Game]]>

Any game you give to your buddy who's getting married pales in comparison to this. Tokyo-based game programmer Gregg Tavares helped create the end-all, be-all of game nerd presents.

The happy couple, David and Elly, are huge gamers themselves. Two rooms in their three bedroom house are for games (each having their own private space). Not only do they have every console, but also three cabinets as well!

Gregg writes:

A group of about 11 of us met one day in December to discuss ideas for games. Should we make a small adventure game? Should it be multi-player so they could both play at the same time? Maybe it should just be a side scrolling shooter or a simple platform game. Ultimately we decided on making a bunch of simple mini games in the spirit of Wario Ware.

The game was made in secret and unveiled on the wedding day. The above clip shows the bride and groom playing it for the first time. Like game wedding cakes we've posted before, but playable and non-fattening.

<![CDATA[Eat this GameCube, Birthday Boy!]]>

Today's nerd hero, reader Timothy, zapped us a pic of this delicious-looking game cake. He explains:

This picture was taken at my wedding in June. My birthday was 3 days before the wedding and my wife had the wedding cake baker make a birthday cake for me for at the reception in the shape of a Gamecube. Sadly, only part of the controller is visible in this picture. I knew nothing about it until we got to the reception. It was a wonderfully nerdy moment on an otherwise not nerdy day.

Birthday three days before your wedding? Good thinking! That way you'll never forget your anniversary.
