Is there a reason why Dotgif is the only comment that consistently does not link to the image itself by clicking on it? Every other image, if you click on it, it links to just the image, but every week, Dotgif does nothing. I'd assume there's a reason for this, but I don't know what it is.

Once again, I submit a reasonable complaint against CAD:

    Kotaku is a gaming site.

CAD is no longer(or very rarely) a gaming comic.

    Therefore, it has no place.

You could at least explain why you keep putting it up despite the hatred for it, the irrelevance of it, etc, if you're not going to stop putting it up.

It took a while with the PA comic, I kept reading it and then I lol'd!

It's kinda like when I make fun of my friend who's trying to learn Japanese...

    "Toyota? Kikoman Mitsubishi, Sukiyaki su..."

    It drives her nuts...

Whenever I speak in Vietnamese, my English friends make fun of my bad attempts with the ONLY word they know...

Penny Arcade and 2PStart! literally made me fall off my chair in laughter today. Congrats to that achievement.

But come on d00d, I hate Jonas Brothers too, but at this point, making fun of them is too "cheap of a joke."

Also, here is today's GG Guys.

I really have come to love Nerf Now and believe I'd seek it out if it ever stopped getting posted here. I really enjoy the art style, and while the strip may not be outright hilarious, it's always entertaining. Great to see a fresh take on a franchise that's a magnet for tired jokes.

@VenomIreland: Dunno if those comics are sponsored or what, but I seriously think we should have a vote (if possible) to select the best Sunday Comics.

The obvious objective is to remove CAD and put something better instead.

But since I don't really know how the selection process happens for Sunday Comics, presenting this as a suggestion.

@Gravidos: My main issue with it is that it seems to try too hard to be funny, and it fails. I can appreciate trying to go for an extended story, but I just don't think Tim Buckley is that great of a writer.

@Raymayne: Rooster Teeth, Extralife, and PvP all have something in common: they're actually about gaming once in a while, whereas CAD...well, hasn't been for about five years, unless you count the strips he's specifically set aside from his "main" plot. I'll take "occasionally" over "never."

Another plus: none of those strips require you to read three years of old strips to understand a convoluted, wannabe-soap-opera-style plot to even begin to understand the "jokes."

Man CAD really sucks. Maybe if it actually had an artstyle that matched the 'story' element of the strip it'd be okay. I mean it'd still suck but....er...

Ok I admit, sometimes I don't get certain jokes or comics, but I know when there is supposed to be one and I'm just not getting it.

But I'm pretty damn sure there is absolutely no punchline to Ctrl Alt Del. Does this guy even know how to write? I'm serious, not trying to be incredibly insulting, (but I guess I am) but this guy really doesn't seem to get it. It's unnecessarily wordy, and it's trying to have a plot, which is stupid for a short web comic. And does it even have anything to do with gaming any more? Jeez.

    Alright, look. Here's the thing.

Kotaku? It's a site about gaming, for the most part.

It is not a site about ridiculously poorly written drama.

So why, despite all the weekly complaints, despite the complete irrelevancy to the site, despite the abysmal brain-melting terribadness of Ctrl-Alt-Del, is it still put up weekly, despite NEVER BEING ABOUT GAMES?

@WhiteMåge: Technically, the comic bills itself as a gaming comic. But I do agree with you, the majority of strips have very little to do with gaming.
Ethan and Lucas don't even talk about games anymore, so the closest thing to gaming present in the comics is:

-Ethan works/owns a game store, though games aren't really mentioned that much. Doesn't count.
-That Rob guy who works there still talks about Counter-Strike all the time, as if we were still in the days where CS is only a few years old and that kind of guy even exists anywhere in the world. A tired joke that somehow still lives on: doesn't count.
-Lilah is a pro gamer, but this could really be ANY job, because it only comes up if Buckley wants to have some weird power struggle where Ethan is insecure about her being the breadwinner or something. Doesn't count.
-Come to think of it, you pretty much would never guess that Lucas even plays games, because I can't recall the last time his character even talked about them. Obviously doesn't count.
-Then there's Zeke, the shameless ripoff of HK-47 from Knights of the Old Republic, who is technically an Xbox. Doesn't count.

Which leaves the completely unrelated strips that don't feature of the characters and are actually about gaming. And the "sillies", which are essentially the same thing, only with more phoned-in art.

So yeah, if he cut out the whole "characters" and "storyline" thing, then at least his comic could actually be called a gaming comic, though that still wouldn't guarantee that it was actually any good.

You tell me which of those comics seems to have the slightest concept of how to tell a joke.

@nworobes: I agree on all of your points except about Penny Arcade. Lately, I have gotten the feeling that they're not as into the three panel game gags as they were in the past, as they've both (Tycho and Gabe) matured in their respective styles. I think they jsut keep pumping out the three a week out of habit and a need to feed their families.
