I've got to speak up a bit about this and many other stories popping up on Kotaku. I love Kotaku and the many varied voices of it's writers, but why, in a story about Battlefield Heroes, is there no external link to it's site?
This has been happening more and more lately and it would be nice if I didn't feel like all the links were just traps. They look like external links to the Battlefield website, or even a download page, but they're all internal links. Is this by design or just a fluke because it kind of sucks.
The more I play this game the more I love it. A fairly smooth experience and all for a price of $0. My only complaint with the game is what they are promoting. Sometimes it gets hard as hell when a pirate runs up to you and stabs you. With no "uniform" for the teams it gets a little hectic in there. But I guess thats why I keep coming back.
This game looks really, really good and i've had it in my favourites for quite a while now, but i can never find the time to play it >:(
judging by the amount of people on i'll have to find some time soon and give it a go though, even though i've never played a battlefield game before =/
Very good news that it reached 1,000,000 users though! =D
@Nahir: It's quite a different game. Not necessarily bad, but different. I myself like it more than TF2, but that's just personal preference. I suggest you simply try it out! It's free! :)
@Yossarian: I absolutely love BF Bad Company. For me, the PC games feel 'light' and arcadey by comparison. What I mean is, turning is far too quick, your character doesn't feel weighed down by all of that heavy equipment he's carrying.
There's a massive tendency for players to 'bunny hop' when they come under fire that just ruins the immersion for me. Not that this doesn't happen in BC, but it's far less frequent, and I suspect that most of the players are, like myself, ex-pc players.
Additionally, I prefer using the gamepad (360) to the mouse and keyboard. I like that pulling the trigger feels like... pulling a trigger, and the rumble feedback just adds to it all aswell.
@KesMonkey: Hear, Hear, on using the gamepad controls.
It is considered blasphemous to many around here, but the gamepad actually works really well for shooters. I really prefer everyone being on the same playing field as far as mobility and speed to turn goes.
One of my bigger grips with BH:Heroes was that the mouse look just seemed to go way too fast. I really prefer the feeling in Bad Company and 1943. It just feels much more deliberate and under control. In heroes my viewpoint was flying all over the place because of the mouse.
@Clarke: I take your point, but it's a lot closer than clicking LMB. I have fired an assault rifle and a light machine gun btw (military service many years ago), and I do find the gamepad provides me with a somewhat similar feeling to pulling a real trigger.
@M*A*S*H: Generally, yes. When you're weighed down with anywhere between thirty and eighty pounds of equipment, any attempt to rotate as quickly as in a (PC) first person shooter would probably cause you to lose balance and fall over, if not do your back a serious injury. (It also depends on just how sensitive you have your analogue stick set, of course).

TF2 is defiinitely the better and deeper game, but BFH is more relaxing and worth a try. There's room in your world for both.

I tried this out, and despite the huge similarities, I'm enjoying BF:1943 a whole lot more.
