Waterway Micro-Review: A Little Wet Behind The Ears |

I had a card that I never used for songs and figured now that I have an iPod Touch this would be the perfect way to spend it. I thought the point of the cards was to be "as good as cash." Nope. And a careful read of the TOS revealed that I should have never expected it to. Even though it is there in carefully crafted black and white legalese it still begs the question why.
It is beyond belief really, since there is no legislation in Canada that would prevent Apple from allowing the cards to be used towards apps. Don't you like money Apple?
Why, oh why, is Canada constantly being techno-capped? (Netflix, last.fm, Pandora, Hulu, higher game pricing even when exchange is at par...)

A while ago, I had a pretty traumatic experience before involving a gift card, an iPod Touch and my girlfriend. Dicey stuff.

Here's a recent article about it. The government official's letter/response stating that there is no legislation preventing Apple from allowing it is shown in the article.

HAVING SAID THAT, I have not tried it myself and I have not read any documentation that refutes your research.
So basically, I've solved nothing.

My only complaint would be the music. It's okay, but it's not Space Invaders Extreme.

I would say the real price of entry is 200 (16GB) and 300 (32GB) respectively, to have te faster ones.

Apologies for my own long list of alternatives here, but there are many far-superior, iPhone-friendly titles out there: (HookChamp, Orbital, GloBall, Steel Sky, Baseball Superstars 2010, Flight Control, Earthworm Jim, HiHowAreYou, Meteor Blitz, DrawRace, Minigore, BackBreaker Football, Spider: Bryce Manor, Monster Pinball, Cocoto Kart Online, Fore!, Knights Onrush, Robocalypse, Canabalt, Soosiz, Inkvaders, MelonGolf, Submachine, JellyCar2, Nick Chase, DoodleJump, MicroPool, Squareball, Mystery Mania... to name a bunch).
Also, not sure why Streets of Rage is up there, when you openly admit it's pretty-much crap.

doom resurrection and mgs touch? not so much.
also, the asphault games arent half bad either, and star defense is really fun and one of the first tower defense games ive liked (i mostly hate them because there are too many for the iphone/ipod touch).
the rest you either agreed were good (as do i) or i havent played.

I'm also recomending a lot Hi How Are You as it is like a mix of super monkey ball and dig dug... something like that. It's completly wacky.

And Soosiz is a lot longer, but maybe not as tough.

Did Kojima have anything to do with it in the slightest? Or is it a straight up cash in? Oh well, downloading now...

You can only buy iTunes gift cards right?
No "Give the Gift of Game" service like what Steam does for its DD?
Cos if it's iTunes card's only that's mega lame. Cos all you can do is juts nudge folks in the direction of this article with the little enveloped with a $20 piece of plastic in it.

i think the iphone/ipod touch have lots of potential as game devices, i mean if i were apple.. id slap real controls on the touch and sell it as a standalone gaming device. with controls, itd definitely be a better gaming device than an mp3 player.. i wouldnt have bought mine if i wasnt a fanboy of all things gaming (and mobile games suck on my blackberry lol).

i dont know what the deal is.

Am I right in saying iPod Touch games also work on an iPhone, and visa versa? I only ask because I was interested in Star Wars: Trench Run, but i've only seen that touted as an iPod Touch game, and that's another I'd like to add to list of potential iPhone games.

But on a serious note, I know I've contributed at least $75 to the games in the app store. A few gems, like Drop 7, iDracula and Flight Control always stay on my phone, and I'm more than glad to fuel the mobile gaming "industry."
Then there are the regrets, like Spore :(

Plus, can you itouch a stripper the same way you can an iphone without getting a black eye from one of the bouncers? I THINK NOT!
