I like ideas like this, they did it with Stranglehold too didn't they? It's a good incentive, because then you can see the material in which the game is based upon, if you get bored playing the game.
But how do you describe this, is it the Games with the film free or the Film with the two games free?
@MarquisMark: I've read the Long Halloween. I really enjoyed that one as well. Very film-noir like. I'll definitely have to check out some of the other Batman ones. I also really liked Arkham Asylum: A serious house on serious earth.
@ClassyWorkman: You know, I looked at that and it does look really interesting but I hate collecting individual graphic novels. Its so expensive. I like the stand-alone tomes best, but I guess that's how they make money off of you. The only one that I have a complete collection of thus far is The Walking Dead.
Thanks for the suggestions, keep them coming. It's going to be a long summer!
@MarquisMark: Its very good. I bought the first graphic novel, volume 1, one day and then came back the next day and bought the next 7. I'm a huge Zombie freak (not literally) so if you love the post apocalyptic storyline or any of the Romero films, its definitely for you. People have described it as the ultimate Zombie movie that doesn't end.
@NeVeRMoRe666: Sounds like a resounding yes to me!
Looks like that'll be my next purchase after I finished reading TDKR and a collection of Tim Sale Batman stories I didn't realize existed until Saturday.
So many games to play, so many movies to see, so many books to read...
@NeVeRMoRe666: Preacher is really good, esp the first 3. Transmetropolitan is highly recommended if you don't mind a hint of political themes. Surprised no one has mentioned Batman: The Killing Joke yet, as that one haunts my nightmares. Also, I've been reading Fables lately and really liking that.
OTOH, if you like things a little more serious, try Persepolis. That is an amazing story.
@FatalChaos: In just about every scene with Dr. Manhattan, and there are quite a few. While it can be distracting, there's no attention given to it at all in the movie, which makes it easy to see past.
@minimelo321: It is great news but at the same time it's a little annoying. Why isn't the 360 version coming as a 2 disc special with the DVD packaged? I could understand if they put the movie and the game on 1 bluray disc to take advantage of the bluray capacity but they aren't. It just doesn't make sense.
The killer is, you might be playing the game for an hour but then decide you want to watch a movie, if the movie is already in the machine because it's on the game disc, then maybe that's what you watch. If you have to get up and take the game disc out, you may as well look at your movie collection to see if there is something else worth putting on.
Oh, here we go. I just mentioned on the article about the "Watchmen" game being released as a standalone disc, and some of us debated that the game should be included as an extra for the Blu-Ray. Good deal...but I'm only picking up the Ultimate Super-Duper Extra Blue Wang Edition of Watchmen with "Black Frieghter" and 20 more minutes of Manhattan's penis spliced in.
@danterandal19: Can someone explain to me why people are obsessed with Dr. Manhattan's penis? I scarcely recall it even being in the film, and yet there is not a discussion of the movie anywhere without people talking about it. This seems very odd to me.
Am I the only person on this planet that enjoyed this game? Hopefully they will release the second one in digital form as well...I will purchase it day one if they do.
@LegendofMyth: It's not as bad as people make it out to be, but I think the big download and high XBLA price make people expect more than an average beat-em up. The only thing I found off-putting was having to earn moves and combos, which is inexcusable in this sort of game.
@LegendofMyth: It's not awful, but I've played much, MUCH better beat 'em ups. Capcom's Dungeons and Dragons, Battle Circuit, Armored Warriors and Aliens vs Predator, Irem's Undercover Cops, Ninja Baseball Bat Man and Hook, and the Neo Geo's Sengoku I-III all put this game to shame.
Like Kobun said, for that much money I expect a lot more.
The demo hurt them more than it helped - thank god for Microsofts forced demo policy I guess. ;-)
Proof that digital distribution doesn't work if your game isn't that good. They want store presence and Watchmen fans passing by the box not knowing about the game and picking it up.
It's a damn shame the game was so mediocre. I had high hopes for a Watchmen beat 'em up, but I guess if you want a property to be treated properly, you have to wait for a fan game.

Any other graphic novels you guys would recommend?
I just started on the Sandman and am almost done with V for Vendetta but will gladly listen to any suggestions you guys might have.

Also recommend Batman: The Long Halloween.
