You know the really weird thing about the image though? It's not looking through the Grill of Isaac's Mask, it's looking through the Metal view blocking parts....
@Manuel Calavera, Reaper Supreme: Maybe, but I don't think the Cameras were all along those metal bits. Also the shape of the grill kinda suggests to me is is Supposed to be viewed through (there's a couple "holes" about where the eyes should be), suggesting that is where the camera placement would be...
@Cptn.PaxtonAstypalaea(Corsair): They're way too thin, though, and it would make blasting legs off of skittering monstrosities pretty difficult, nevermind fixing complicated machinery on the ship (which is the suit's apparent purpose)
Dead Space is to horror games what Uncharted is to action games in my opinion, taking heavy influences from all of the bests in each genre but making them feel fresh and exciting again, absolutely fantastic.
I wonder if we'll be on another ship, or on a planet base this time, or maybe everything's went to shit and a marker somehow got to Earth creating an alien zombie ridden Earth... So awesome...
I loved the original but it did ever so slightly samey by the end...go here, get trapped, fight monsters...need more variation of monsters! Anyway, can't wait to shit myself again.
I can only hope that Dead Space is longer than the first one, as I beat it in a quick 8 hours. And I'm really hoping for more variations in the enemies, different mutations & creatures and whatnot. Dead Space rocked my socks, but for some reason ... the replayability just wasn't there for me and I parted with the title not too long after buying it on the day of release. I now regret parting with it, and have been considering downloading it as it's $19.99.
@d_r_e:
"And I'm really hoping for more variations in the enemies"
Yup same here.
In 1st one it felt really cheap the way they simply painted "old" models black to create more dangerous xenomorphs at the end of the game.
That didnt work well for me, it just killed some of the immersion.
Otherwise it was a superb survival horror game. Cant wait for DS2.
I just hope that it will stick to it's roots and not going like RE series into arcade mode, or like Silent Hill into well... shit mode.
@Tacticalspoon: lol... I bought the hardback edition of the DeadSpace graphic novel... during the biog section in the beginning of the book there's a typo where it calls the unitologists Scientologists... I bust a nut laughing.
You know, for a game titled "Dead Space", there really was a lot of alive shit coming after me trying to dismember me.
Maybe someone should slap the truth in advertising act on them and force them to recall the game. At least title it "Mostly Dead Space" or "Some of the People are Dead Space but the Things That Kill You are Very Much Alive (or at least re-Animated) Space".

Now we get to see what happened to the REAL Marker! Death to more Necromorphs bitches!!!
I also can't wait to see what weapons they cook up in the next game. Personally I want those plasma blade weapons that they had in the Dead Space movie. Yes, I know the movie sucked for the most part but those cutters kicked ass! They made for great melee weapons when the Necros go in to close.
@tiekmir: I second this! The game REALLY needed some form of melee weapon... stomping was cool, but ineffective against most enemies, and the suspended saw feature of the ripper was nigh on useless most of the time.
@D-K, stubbed his toe..*swears*: Yeah, I don't know. I really used to think that too, until I fell in love with the first person view. Some games just shouldn't be 3rd person.
I was like what?! OPM is dead isnt it? Then I saw it was actually OPM UK which I guess is still in business? Anyways New Dead Space is good. Sequels do tend to sell more nowadays anyways.
@D-K, stubbed his toe..*swears*:
Well I know POM is the new official playstation mag in north america wasnt sure about other places in the world. Although POM is a funny acronym for me. Sounds like you're saying apple in french only without the full spelling #speakup
Dead Space and Dead Space Extraction weren't big sellers for EA. I'm surprised (happily surprised) they would give Dead Space another chance. Must be all that brand building going into effect.
@WonkersWatilla: Dead Space sold well enough. It wasn't a blockbuster, but it was a solid seller and had very good word of mouth. I'm not surprised they're investing in continuing the brand. And Extraction was surprisingly good.
@AngryEddy: Dead Space sold okay, but not up to EA expectations. Further on, Dead Space: Extraction was a giant BOMB. It only sold about 8,000 - 9,000 copies. That's just terrible, and it's such a good game.
@excel_excel: Like you say, it is a slow burner. I think that's probably because, in the casual gamer market, it sold purely on word of mouth. The mainstream advertising for Dead Space must have been very poor, because I have casual gamer friends who absolutely adore the game, but they never heard of it until I showed it to them.
If EA want better sales, maybe they should do a better job of advertising?
